As soon as you get rid of the cords you’ll find what they belonged to.

Out in my shed I have maybe 4 or 5 DIN keyboards and a few DIN mice, out of the six each that I bought, brand new, at a $10 a dozen closeout sale in 1999.

Almost immediately, DIN ports disappeared.

I used one keyboard and a few mice with my next computers and a couple of DIN/PS2 connectors… but neither in the last …oh… maybe 15 years…

They’re almost OK… for slow, corded, ball mice… and the keyboards are lacking only a few of the newer keys.

But who can throw away brand new peripherals in nice shiny boxes?

Ew.

The one cord that I did not keep, and now want but can’t find, is the grounding wire for my Technics turntable

My wife keeps bugging me about hoarding things. Her rule of thumb is if we haven’t used it in a year, we should pitch it. I finally broke down and got rid of some stuff that had been sitting in a box since the Reagan administration. She was so proud of me.

Two weeks later, I needed it.

I am a cord hoarder. I have 2 cords of split oak firewood left for this winter. I have a big pile of osage orange for the stove next winter.

I finally brought myself to get rid of a similar box – we all have one!

Some day the MIB will need one of the old cords to save the world and I’ll be ready!

Don’t forget the 50 pin D shell connectors for phone and wired internet punch blocks. Wires are always the answer to weak signals and noise problems. Upgrades always advised you to plug your computer into a wired internet connection for data reliability and plug into the wall to prevent failure from battery discharge shutdown.

Been there; done that. I still have my Panasonic KX-P1123 dot matrix printer (parallel cable), although it became obsolete once I upgraded to Windows 7. I may need the printer if I were to use my other computer (Windows XP).

What in the heck is a 32 pin cord? I know what all the others are, but that seems kinda generic.
