Aw shucks. I was hoping this conversation would go on a bit longer. At least to the point where parents are discussed. Specifically, Tiff’s mom. Heck, Stef never even said what her “major” is. And No, it ain’t MRS.

And forgive Me, but I’m wondering what the rest Stef’s Cheerleading squad is like?

It’s true. Tiff is no longer svelte, but the shapeless, unflattering jeans and sweater don’t help. Steff is off in her little playtime uniform, following in the wake of her nicely displayed cleavage. And then comes Bernice wearing a black, long sleeved, James Bond turtle neck, on a mission for the Queen.

i misread that at first when Tiffany responded at the end i thought she said Yes kinda like i used too…what? but either way good one Bernice

Have anyone noticed Stefani has her tongue hanging out when she smiles? That’s the celebrities’ trick to keep the neck wrinkle/crease/double chin- free. If you look closely to the celebrities’ smiles, you can see their tongues pushing against their bottom teeth.

Tiffany kind of likes Stefani. Bernice, on the other hand, seems to be hell-bent on driving away her friends.

Does Stefani even know Tiffany’s name?

Tonight’s “Luann” got more interesting than I expected. Tiffany said, “Yet I kind of like h—-” Bernice said, “So lots in common.” Yes, but not quite it. Note two magnets with the same polarity actually repel – so there’s something else in play. I don’t even know what it is (which makes it interesting). Like good live theater, this toggles between the unique and the universal.

But our Tiff is growing up.

Tiff was the same way in high school. Ever see her in a strip with her in it then when she was NOT in the cheerleader outfit?

Cmon Tiff. Put it all together. Realize that this is how you’ve been perceived for years and how you can be more than that. Evolve!

So, despite a few suspects, this could be the beginning of a good friendship? Bernice seems relieved that both are well together, and she can see all the similarities that Tiffany and Stefani have, although Tiffany seems unable to see how similar her roommate is to her.This will be awesome!

Stefani reminds me of a joke I heard a while back: What does a narcissistic woman and Russian dolls have in common? Ans: They’re both full of themselves.

So, even after being put in a headlock hug, and having her face grabbed and lipstick smeared on her. Tiff LIKES her roommate?

Oh well. There’s no accounting for peoples taste. (or lack thereof.)

I think Tiff found herself a little reminder of the old life.

There is so much in this panel, yet it leaves us wanting more. First Stef is shown from Tiffany’s perspective, and she likes the ditzy, self-absorbed, pushy, but sweet Stef. That picture in the second panel clearly shows that Stefani is a very happy, positive kind of person, who enjoyed meeting her new roomie very much, and Tiffany has a very warm kind of gaze watching Stef go to be with Kip. In comes Bernice, and reacts to Tiffany’s comments as did many of us, that Tiffany is reflected in Stefani, but as someone said, Bernice’s “verdicality” (meaning bluntness) almost tripped her up when Bernice realized a snarky comment was being made about her. There is so much projection in this busy comment blog, but this is the truest expression of how the characters really are, how they really interact with each other, and like I always say ’HILARITY ENSUES"!!

I don’t know about “ditzy” for Tiffany… scheming, maybe…

Thought Tiff might see the immaturity in Steffani and double down on the tycoon side. Looks like the end of Tiff the Tycoon is near.

How many stereotypes and you fit in one comic strip?

Any guesses on where we go next week? This seems to indicate an end to this arc, but one never knows.

I don’t mind new characters added now and then, but I miss some of the old crew, Krystal, Knute, Delta,etc. They should drop in once in awhile. Or, I could have too much time on my hands worrying about comic strips :)

Well it is interesting that Tiffany sort of likes Stefani! I wonder if Berniece had any input on this little arrangement? She may have felt they WOULD have a lot on common.

In a weird way Stefani May help Tiffany get her groove back fashion wise. Maybe Tiff will start working out with the cheer squad and dressing a bit more fashionably. Personally I like her just fine the way she is but it might be a boost to her if she did some nice things for herself once in a while.

Remember, the entire arc just lasted, in real time, for a couple of minutes. Might be game dayl

Stefani might be over the top, but she isn’t malicious or demeaning as Tiffany once was.

Yep, she was saying she kind of likes her until Bernice’s comment. So it’s one of two things, IMO… either she doesn’t see herself being the same way, or she does & thinks it’s a good way to be. Both are pretty sad.

Conclusion, Tiff subconsciously recognizes a “soul sister” in Stefi-Bird. Then Bernice makes it overt that Tiff is looking into a way-back mirror.

1212 interprets Tiff’s gaze in panel 2 as a “warm feeling” for Stefi-Bird. Given the final panels, the “gaze” may be a wistful look by Tiff on her “days gone by.” A gleeful cheerleader dashing off to meet her adoring, cute quarterback boyfriend.

The question now becomes, Given Bern’s “veridicality” (thanks Rhetorical) will this alter Tiff’s feelings toward Stefi-Bird? Will she turn snarky and competitive toward her? Only Greg knows… and TeaFanny.

I find it comforting to see the continuation of Bernice’s interaction with Tiffany here at Mooney. I was concerned that Tiff’s move may have indicated a break with Bern’s constellation of dorm folks for “Hall A” denizens. Especially after Tiff’s comment a couple weeks ago that she and Bern “barely see each other.”

A handful for the QB.

Something completely off topic…….is Jack on the C.C. football team? If he is, then why isn’t his BFF Luann ever going to the games?

Tiff seems to recognize Steph for what she is. Maybe she admires Steph’s positivity and ability to take charge? Qualities needed to succeed in business? Wonder if the nail business will get off the ground again with Steph as a partner or promoter. Nah, she may only promote herself. ;p

Hmm, I was saying the same thing when this part first started.

I wouldn’t be too sure of Steff’s “good intentions”. That song, “Smiling Faces Sometimes” keeps coming to mind… Beware of the handshake that hides the snake! (can you dig it?) Beware of the pat on the back, it might just hold you back!

For now, Tiff should take things cautiously, and keep her cards close… don’t expose any vulnerabilities right now to a girl she just met, and the first impression didn’t go all that well. If, eventually, Steff proves herself trustworthy, then Tiff might have found a new friend, But if not… one never regrets being wary. Just like being a newbie at the office. Some people will be helpful. The sooner they can get you up to speed and pulling your own weight, the better. But some people… will feel threatened by you and go out of their way to make you look bad.

And, Steff went out of her way to make Tiff look/feel bad. The weight comments, the snide “poor dear, kicked off the team”, the involuntary lipstick application. BEWARE!

Wrong on that one. Bernice doesn’t think there is anything wrong with her. Bernice is totally convinced she is always right about everything, and she tries to pass off her snide, snarky put-downs as “counseling.”

Bernie: cheeky; smart-mouthed; as lacking common sense as ever. It’s a wonder she’s survived this long as R.A….

Bernice could have kept that thought to herself. Now she may have undone all the support and friendship that she has given and which Tiff has appreciated.

Did Bernice PURPOSELY pick out Steffi as Tiffany’s roommate,just to watch the fireworks?She could have kept it simple and stuck to “The Chinese Water Torture”.

I haven’t followed the strip long enough to know what Tiffany was like in high school so…

Stefani, clearly believing that the way she is is a good way to be, wants to help Tiffany be that way. She does not appear to be insulting or mean about it. Some might say she was condescending, but I think that is a stretch.

What was Tiffany like to girls who weren’t as pretty as she was? Helpful or otherwise?

Cheerleaders only wear their uniforms at games and at sanctioned events. Wearing them outside of that context is usually a violation of rules that can after repeat offenses, lead to removal from the squad.
