That’s very sweet. Steve is a consistently good foil for these situations.

I doubt that there has ever been a comic strip artist with the talent of Berkeley Breathed.

I absolutely LOVE the portrayal of Steve Dallas – shades of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” – I can certainly see aspects of ol’ Hunter S in Steve.

I have a Rescue dog who was so viciously treated by his first owner that, almost 10 years later, he will cringe if I move suddenly, flinch when I touch him and cringe when he sees me about to. He hides in there’s a raised voice or noise. About The only time I see the happy dog he should alwayx be is when I let him out into the yard. Now, Every time I see this beautiful dog, who I have never raised a finger against, bracing to be mistreated, I think about the scumbag who broke Rosco and how dearly I would love an opportunity to do the same to him.

Seems to be much discussion on his FB page about whether “last hours” means of her life or of the year. I hope it is just of the year. She and Steve deserve some happy years together.

From BB about this strip as posted on the Bloom County Twitter feed on 2 Jan: “A confession: I had a startling, blubbery reaction when I finally added the scars to my broken bull terrier. Came out of nowhere— hasn’t happened before. Age. Sheesh. —bb”

They ask only for kindness, literally the least you can do. In return they give love which is literally EVERYTHING that they have. If this strip doesn’t make you cry, please check for a pulse.

Is Steve OK? He’s been my hero since he set up Opus to set up Zulu with Sam the Lion. Not that Steve is more important than Death Dealer. But what does “in precisely equal amounts” mean?

In November, we said goodbye to our rescue Terrier mix. In her final hours of her 16th year, second month and 13th day, she knew she had all but her first 8 months in a life lived fully loved. Hard to type this through the tears.

Berkeley, I still don’t like your politics, but this last series about Death Dealer showed that you do have a heart. I loved it. However, Steve Dallas must now be changed forever.
