Even though I know that IRL Lupin now gets along with Goldie (or at least tolerates her), it still makes me so sad to see him being so mean to her in this strip……
Goldie needs to have a chat with her buddy, Puck to find out why Lupin is snarly towards her. I would so love to see a strip soon where the mystery is revealed to her.
Goldie has shown remarkable restraint in not slapping Lupin silly, especially as (so far as we know) nobody’s told her he’s deaf nor reminded her about her recorder-napping. Even more restraint in not doing something that’ll invite him to take the first swing—like jumping over him into the kitchen, for example.
I have 4 house cats and Robin and Eddie get along fine, then Robin and Pad Paw get along sometimes, Minerva doesn’t like anybody, Pad Paw doesn’t like Eddie. Robin is old and he just goes with the flow for the most part.
I think Lupin needs to calm down and state his true grievances. I am sure he feels everyone should know why he is really upset, but I am not sure they do especially Goldie. Maybe The Woman will get some calming spray to help him calm down a bit and then he can let Goldie know what the real problem is and we can have some resolution.
(aka LadyKat) I can see Lupin being upset over possibly having to share the man, as the man is his special person, much as the woman is Elvis’. The rest is purely ridiculousness on his part.
Happy Organize Your Home Day. You remember those ducks from yesterday? It’s time to get them in a row. Quabble, quabble, quabble, quabble, quabble, QUACK!
I feel bad for poor Goldie. Her people abandoned her and just when she thought she found a new home, Lupin’s rejecting her. Look in panel four—those sweet, droopy little ears!
OT: Orbsters, help me out with something … what is it with Ember and paper products? She tries to eat paper bags and pieces of cardboard boxes. The boxes, I can at least see where she might be trying to open a hole in the cardboard so she can see what’s in the box (I actually have her on video doing that with a box from Chewy) … but the paper bag makes no sense. She doesn’t do it regularly, and we’re talking near-microscopic pieces of paper, but I want to make sure it’s not a symptom of a bigger issue. Suggestions?
(Addendum: I’m not entirely persuaded she doesn’t do it to make noise. I have seen her simply shred paper-bag type packing material in some boxes, rather than trying to eat it.)
Poor Goldie, I think Puck needs to give her a hug. Now come here to me Lupin. This is not welcoming behaviour. I know that Goldie took your tape recorder, but it was returned, eventually by the robber mice, and if she was not in the apartment Goldie would be homeless.
When I adopted Grace (named for Grace Hopper) Caramel, who had been an only cat for some time, was not at all happy. Grace was a rescue that a friend brought too me, and Caramel absolutely freaked. She sulked for a few days, then was rather withdrawn for quite a time. She slowly got over it, and now, they are quite close. At first, Caramel would not get on the bed at all if Grace was there. Now, they share the bed, and sometimes sleep together. And they are constantly grooming each other. They still act a bit like children fighting over the attention of Mommy, but it is not as bad as it was.
But this strip does make me feel sad. I look forward to their all coming to their senses and becoming a happy quartet of good kitties.

Wondering whether or not this is something that really happened, because this seems like a very cat thing to do. XD;

Panel 3, Goldie seems sad. Panels 4 and 5, she is increasingly annoyed. Look out, Lupin.

Better cool it, Lupin. The man was largely responsible for making sure Goldie could stay. I don’t think he’s going to be on your side this time!

This story has made me sad from the time Goldie was brought into the house without anyone taking steps to deal with the injustice.
