Don’t hit Calvin, or Hobbs. I’m pretty sure I see them at the bottom of the hill.

You know, when they say this goes to 11, it similar to saying put in 110% effort. It all depends on the scale you use.

Yeah, but 36 years ago, when the movie came out, you were 8 then, too, so don’t play all naive with me, buster!

In the movie Spinal Tap, the character is too stupid to understand that the amp with the volume knob marked 1 to 11 is no different from the one marked 1 to 10. He’s duped by deceptive labeling.

The smart engineer says I’ll build you one that goes to 12 for $2000. (From XKCD #670).

Some days this comic just shouldn’t ever have been. And I still say 8-year-olds are not this wise. Intelligent, maybe, but not wise.

That’s okay. Every day can actually go up to 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Weird. That scene just popped into my head this morning and I didn’t even realize that today is the 11th. Have you ever been thinking about a plate of shrimp and out of the blue, somebody says plate or shrimp or plate of shrimp?

Incidentally, I’ve seen Frazz summarized as a Mary Sue turned up to 11.

Everybody recovered from the holidays? Anybody wondering if maybe we’re doing it wrong if holidays are something you have to recover from?

Mind you, it is a question posed here by a guy who knows full well that most of his favorite moments required some degree of rest and recovery. So I shouldn’t have a problem with that. Is the issue that any given holiday comes around too often?

Maybe the problem is that holidays don’t come around often enough. Maybe it’s not the amount at all, or maybe we don’t know how to count it; maybe it’s like that wonderful old Fabulous Thunderbirds song, “One’s Too Many and a Hundred Ain’t Enough.” Annually is too often and daily ain’t enough.

I’ve always had a thing for a full moon. I can’t explain it and would probably ruin it a little if I could, but I do like the schedule. One every four weeks isn’t enough AND it isn’t too much, and since I live in Michigan where being able to see something through a clear sky cannot be counted on, there’s a certain amount of delicious uncertainty to it.

But I also like the idea of a This One Goes to Eleven day. Or any other incentive to live large. And if you screw it up, the next 11th is just a month away.

A classic quote from the same guy that was combining Mozart and Bach, resulting in a kind of Mock piece.
