Well, certainly your “conservative principles” are about as smart as the average brick, and of much poorer quality. As for building an edifice out of them as grand and elaborate and well-put-together as that crescent-moon palace, good luck.
Yes, there is a difference between principles and values: Principles, basic in concept, do not change. Values change slowly or quickly, as the case may be.
If the voters in red states get convinced that Hair Groppenfuhrer needs to be removed, we might see a miracle and ’Con senators will vote for conviction.
Sen. Barry “Mr. Conservative” Goldwater wrote a seminal book in the Republican ideological canon, The Conscience of a Conservative. Decades later one of his admirers, John Dean, former White House counsel under Pres. Richard Nixon, wrote a followup detailing how far afield his party had drifted. In homage to his hero, he called it Conservatives without Conscience.
In it, he describes the findings of psychologists about “authoritarian personalities”. They think (or rather feel), as did Machiavelli, that what any polity needs is a strong, decisive leader who will make all the decisions for everybody, sparing them the onerous task of having to think for themselves.
Estimates are that about ⅓ of the American populace fits this description, longing for a powerful, dominating father figure to steer the national “family”. Of those, about 99% are sheep desperately seeking a border collie to lead them, and the other 1% are narcissistic psychopaths convinced that it’s their own (sometimes divinely ordained) destiny to do so.
If the Republicans had the principles of a brick outhouse, there would at least be a positive end product. After all it makes good fertilizer and Republians are full of it.

As solid as a brick shift-house built on a sink-hole. And as sweet smelling as the swamp beneath it.

They are not conservative, nor do they have principles. They are vermin rotting in their own droppings.

The Party of Pigs – {a rhyme}
Toles shows Republicans as pigs.
Yes, and in Several senses.
I wouldn’t give you two centses
for all their Trumps nor their Pences
nor their bankers nor plutocratic princes
nor sycophants nor self-righteous prigs
nor deplorables nor corporate big wigs.
… Coda:
On promises their party reneges,
their consciences as spindly as twigs.
They oughta be dragged into brigs.

The current “Conservative Principles” are indistinguishable from a “Cult.”
• Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
• No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
• No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget or expenses, such as an independently audited financial statement.
• Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
• There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
• Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
• There are records, books, news articles, or broadcast reports that document the abuses of the group/leader.
• Followers feel they can never be “good enough”.
• The group/leader is always right.
• The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.
