Wanting to lead and knowing how to lead are two very different things as the GOP learned when they had control of all branches of government. Perhaps morphing the party ideology — such as it is — to conform to a has-been not-too-bright narcissist populist celebrity’s ideas was not a wise move, but too late now … can’t admit that a mistake had been made.

I am beginning to think it is too late…The stuff the media focuses on isn’t the only undermining. Every department of government is experiencing rot from within.

“Vested interests” is absolutely true (and a clever pun). The Repubs wanted tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation and the ability to stack the courts. All of this is being done while the constant Trump antics keep people distracted. They also want to cut (eliminate?) Social Security and Medicare. Trump has already signed an executive order that he claims will “improve” Medicare; the truth is that it is a rehashing of Paul Ryan’s plans to privatize Medicare.
