Let’s hope the principal has better judgement than Mrs. Wormwood.

Yeah, so you can spend more time going to the office and less time actually in there.

Well, when you’re a little kid, the halls of a school building ALWAYS seem big.

Surely Susie can invoke the dealing with Calvin defence for a dismissal of all charges?

I feel for you kid. I went to the principles office a few times. Usually, it was my own fault though.

Wormwood reminds me of the ancient nuns from grammar school. They have no business being around children; let alone teaching them.

It’s a K-12 school. On the way to the office she runs into Riff Randell and Kate Rambeau.

    OK, will finally mention this:

During a boring part of class (3rd grade), I noticed the boy next to me making a paper airplane. So I decided to make one myself.

The teacher immediately spots me doing so, and scolds me. All while completely ignoring the doofus next to me, who kept at it. Wanting to see just how long it would take for her to “notice” him (i.e. play favorites), I also went back to making mine.

She then threw me out of the class, into the kindergarten class in point of fact. As far as I know, she never punished the other guy. I was actually pleased with myself to have proven her bias and incompetence (this wasn’t the only cruel or moronic thing she had done). As an educator now myself I take great pains to NOT play favorites with my students.

The clock and the water fountain, and I forget what it’s called when you draw those lines to infinity. Better than maybe 90% of comic artists would do. Perception?

I honestly remember back in 1st. and 2nd. grade (about 60 years ago (GAD!!!)) actually getting lightheaded and kind of dizzy whenever I had to go to the school office for ANYTHING, even if it was just to take some kind of a report or whatever from the teacher. Odd the things that stick in your mind for that long, isn’t it??

P.S. EXCELLENT distorted perspective on the last frame from Watterson!

I’ll bet these days no one is really scared of the principal. What’s he/she going to do? Give you a stern talking to? I guess for Susie the humiliation is punishment enough.

Suzie, it’s all part of their diabolical plot to break your spirit. Kindergarten…the Germans invented it…think about it.

Ok, I ripped that off from the movie “About Last Night”.

Going by the size of the lockers, Susie must be about 18 inches tall. The exaggerated size works well in this strip. I bet she wishes she could make herself even smaller to the point of invisibility.

This is the difference between boys and girls. Girls going to the office are… concerned. Boys going to the office are… hey, look at that squirrel! Yeah I know. Just roll with it.
