Smug little boat (I love that line!) and Pucky is quite the seacat. That Georgia Dunn is quite the artiste, great signature today.

Never have I seen cats so perfectly summarized in one image as that last panel.

Lupin’s worried ears and expression in panel 6! Also, he is hanging onto the Woman’s leg in the last panel, with his hat of adventure on!

Also I would very much like to see a video of Puck doing the Ferris Bueller museum scene, cutting between increasingly close closeups of his face and that painting, with that same music in the background.

In celebration of my birthday, as well as our orb’s real-life Tommy, I would like to offer this song. I hope John Lennon would approve.

    There are comics I remember,

Some are out of print and some remain,

Some have beagles or stuffed tigers,

Some have Krazy Kats, and some are sane.

Some love Gumbo, some love lasagna,

Some date from pre-history, as I recall,

Some are serious, some are just silly,

In my life, I’ve loved them all.

    ===

But of all these cartoon funnies,

There are no one compares with you,

    So entertaining yet thought-provoking

Bringing cat perspective so brand new.

Though I will always enjoy reading,

Those comic strips that I adore,

I know I’ll always love to read them,

In my life, I love you more.

    (Brilliant piano bridge playing)

In my life, I love you more!

Sea FeverBY JOHN MASEFIELDI must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tideIs a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

This was one of my favorite strips the first time around, and it still is! I love Pucky’s intense silence in panel three!

Pucky might have been a sea captain in another life… (gasp) and he might have had a wooden leg like Hector Barbossa!

Is Elvis an art critic or does he just not feel the call of the sea?

Pucky would’ve been pals with Capt Daniel Gregg, sailing on his ship and with him in the cottage. And Lucia is there. Puck channeling a sailor reminded me of that lovely movie The Ghost and Mrs Muir (Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison of course!). 8)

Apropos of nothing, I saw a sign online that read “If the world really was flat, cats would have knocked everything off of it by now”

Good morning and happy Bunday, orbsters and orbabies! I love today’s strip, Elvis’ dislike of the picture and Puck’s obsession with it and the final knocking the picture off the wall. The lump is growing on the side of Paul’s throat is growing and is very sore. Thank heavens he sees the oncologist this Thursday.

Aw, this is one of my all-time favourite BCN strips! I just love Pucky’s sensitivity and his whispered “ahoy matey” just makes me laugh!

Congratulations on ANOTHER Top 5 Editor’s pick! (“Ahoy, matey” gets me everytime…does Puck watch old Warner Brothers movies when you’re all asleep?)

I could see Puck with a pirate cap, a peg leg and a parrot on his shoulder. Or just sailing away on a skipjack fishing for tuna. Or puttering along in a scow with a few other felines relying on fish to live on… oh the romantic life!

The reason Elvis finds the paiting disturbing is that it show the sails being blown one way and the flag being blown in the opposite direction. And there are lines indicating a wake both behind the boat and in front of it. The real wind blows in one direction at a time, not every direction at once. Make up your mind, painting!

It looks like Lupin went and got the Woman so she would stop Puck. Lupin even had to get dressed first.

Today’s comic induced a brain-worm of the song “The Last Farewell” by Roger Whittaker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGWs1HK8iDU(Summer of ‘75 I working in a remote area near the US/Canada border and could only tune into a few Canadian AM radio stations on a transistor radio. As radio program directors say, that song was in “heavy rotation”.)

I always loved this strip! Sweet Pucky gets so intense and so enthralled by the call of the sea. Maybe he loved a mermaid in a previous life and that is why the image calls to him so.Also, for some strange reason, this strip always makes me think of Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. I can picture Pucky dressing up like Garfield when he had his pirate costume on.

For some reason Puck made me think of Frodo at the end of LOTR when he boards the Elfin Grey Ship as the fleet sets sail for the mystical, mythical West.
