Anybody else’s neighborhood sounding like a war zone from fireworks right now? Hoping you all have a happy (and safe) Independence Day!

Ok, all you artists out there. What kind of art project is done using the things Luann listed? If she had said papier mache, I would have guessed she was going to do one of those ‘life masks’…

I think it’s a chin puppet act, but if it is, shouldn’t they write jokes for it? They couldn’t do it for a ventriloquist act, which we just saw, so they shouldn’t be able to pull this off

Interesting comic strip but not last week and it doesn’t look good for this week. What we have here is two airheads.

The one reboot I could get behind!…..or around….or through, especially after that abandoned hospital basement incident of 1987. Or was that incident number 87?

So is she going for making Bernice a marionette? It would be somewhat ironic to see Bernice as a puppet after all the strings she has been trying to pull lately.

Is this talent show preparation how they want to spent their summer? Is reading about it how you want to spend your summer? Maybe something more interesting is happening in the Gunther, Mom B., and “Uncle Al” household, or wherever Tiffany is working this summer, or wherever Piro has found a place to crash. Still, it’s better than spending the summer on Brad and Toni’s wedding planning!

I’m interested in looking at it for myself, yes, but at this point, this is my initial take on it. Again, I was hopeful about “The Dukes”, “A Team”, and “JJ Trek”. Also, the remakes for “Bionic Woman” and “Knight Rider”. So far, none to my liking (to others, it may have, but again, not to me, JMO). That’s why I mentioned the prelim ‘scuttlebutt’, etc.

See? That’s another thing…today’s networks, to me, don’t have the people in place with the correct “sensibility” (program wise, that is) to put it together in a way that seemed to make it work, in the past. It’s more about profits, than programs for these current suits, even when successful and popular (the demise of the Disney Infinity vid game series is a recent example). If it brings in a nice profit, it still gets cancelled or “retooled”, if the profit’s not “big enough”, thereby messing up the quality. And CBS’ treatment of the Star Trek fanfiction, and the licensing for syndication packages of all the Trek shows (i.e., hoarding them in the ‘vault’, not making the reruns available) and also their insistence of not putting the ‘new Trek series’ on “regular (free) tv”, to me, smacks of this….

@Namrepus“The current premature ejaculation of fire works is in progress tonight.”.Interesting mental imagery involved there.(Although, I have had bottle rockets blow up in my hand, leaving all fingers intact but stained yellow. And not just once as sane people would expect, but repeatedly.)

I’m glad to be spending the 4th in an area where even “safe and sane” fireworks are illegal (due to the high fire danger here in this Gold Rush town). I a sorry I missed the town’s fireworks display however – it was last Friday, over the reservoir.

Luann and Bernice are working too hard for “inspiration”. That’s what happens when the un-creative try to do something creative. You either got it or you don’t.

    I think they wait until the 4th falls on a Sunday…more room for a single-panel display…

    Not necessarily …

The last time the Pitts community fireworks were depicted in the strip was 2013:

The fireworks were referred to on July 5 last year, but not shown, even though that was a Sunday panel. Ditto July 4, 2010, which did fall on Sunday that year.

Most years, whatever story arc was in progress simply continued without any reference to Independence Day at all. The last time fireworks were depicted before 2013 was a Sunday strip, but in context I don’t know if you all will count it … July 4, 2004:

I went as far back as 1999, the last date before that where July 4 was on a Sunday, and no fireworks either displayed or referenced.

I think I just shot your theory all to hell, Puzz. Sorry.

Yes, in the case of 5-0, it seems it’s the action that saved that show. Ha, ha, that, and a couple less crime shows to have to compete with. And remarkable, too, since the ratings weren’t that great, to start out…
