    Exactly!!! Religions in general are social control mechanisms invented and implemented by men using the “Appeal to authority” fallacy. The person/people doing the controlling state what they want prefixed by “God says”. The Judaeo/Christian variant is derivative of the Tigris–Euphrates civilizations which accounts for having a cranky old god with the manners and morals of a spoiled child. The new testament was an attempt to modernize the religion to be more applicable to the current times and that has been edited extensively over the years. Using religion as a basis for a modern nonhomogeneous society is preposterous.
