Not until advertisers stop lustιng after a group of people who love being lied to… and who act on those lies. Which, when you think about it, is pretty much the perfect target for advertisements.
It ain’t just Fox. (Just like it ain’t just Trump)
Fox is the highest ratings and most revenue entity in the right wing media structure. The rest of the structure tries to be even more extreme in hopes of attaining parity with Fox.
The entire Republican party of Trump (and Putin) is now devoted to weaponizing and LYING about every ‘issue’, including made up ones. It is mandatory that their adherents are OUTRAGED!!! every day. If the OUTRAGE! over the deficit starts to ebb, they will make up something like 87,000 armed IRS thugs are coming to confiscate your gas stove! Or they’re cancelling green M&Ms!!!
And they still believe OBAMA IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS!!!!
Thank you, Rob. This is just what I had been saying all day Monday, since hearing a genuine news report about Mr. Carlson’s exit. Fixed News is like a championship ball team; it’s all about “next man up.” They have a farm system, for cryin’ out loud.
And there’s a similar list at many other news outlets. But some prefer you not hear about that. Those that focus only on Fox are just another form of bigot. As useless as all the others.
As long as there’s an audience that craves lies, racism, hatred and rage. That wants to be told that, despite having all the advantages and privileges, they are the true victims. That want permission to attack, oppress and punish their “enemies”. Faux will continue to provide them with their daily red meat and hire continually worse people to shovel their BS.
Fox totally panicked when it began losing viewership in droves after calling Arizona for Biden. Ownership, management, and pundits deliberately doubled down on the election-denying lies and delusions despite concluding most of those promoting such views were completely bonkers. The power of advertising $ overrode any considerations of actually reporting the facts.
It is the “acting on” part that concerns the rest of us. There are a lot of people who stand for nothing except anger and hatred, so they believe anything that feeds that.
I saw a report Monday evening given by someone with a PhD in Poli Sci from Oxford and she went as far back as Father Coughlin in the 1930s and the thread running through was that these RW commentators get their time in the sun and then fade away and a new one comes up and then goes down. She said this was the pattern and a new Faux Nuze spewer (my words) would soon rise. Meanwhile fTucker is held by his contract’s non-compete clause to stay out of the media spotlight or lose a few million dollars. Now fTucker is very rich, he is an heir to the Swanson’s TV dinner fortune, but I think he is also greedy enough to even turndown the offer from RT, the Russian state media outlet. But I don’t know for sure because I can’t get into fTucker’s head in this matter, not that I’d want to.
At least the dude watching changed his shirt.. the haircut stayed the same. Fox did not remove Tucker.. and some of those other guys.. for what was said on air. Fox loves the ratings.. but for actions and truthful statements made off air.
Here’s one I keep on file about a similar group of con artists, but I’m sure you can spot the similarities:
Popes are like busses. There’s always another one coming along shortly. And their job description hasn’t changed in a thousand years: (1) Always claim you’re always right. (2) Ask for money. (3) Never admit that anything was ever your fault. (4) Ask for money. (5) Wave at the crowds. (6) Ask for money. (7) Indignantly refuse to pay taxes on moral grounds. (8) Ask for money.
You say you personally never watch Fox News, so you’re not lending them any support by bolstering their ratings? Think again. If you’re watching cable TV at all, a portion of your subscriber fee is going to the Murdoch clan, whether you know it or not, whether you like it or not. Because it’s part of the cable-TV business model to not provide its customers with a la carte selections of their favorite channels but rather with pre-bundled packages of channels that they have to swallow whole, even tho parts of it are infested with maggots (or MAGAts, as the case may be).
Sorry, but no one who actually watches Fox for that long thinks that what they’re being fed are toxic lies. They are loyal because their fears and prejudices are being stoked nightly.
Sadly, Fox News makes too much money from its toxic lies. Even losing big court settlements haven’t been punishment enough to tip the balance… although we’ll see how the Smartmatic lawsuit goes…
Carlson did end up costing Fox a lot of money, but he made them more money than he lost so they only learn to be a little more careful next time. Carlson is mostly gone because his bosses got to see the nasty emails he sent about them.

And, of course, Mexico will pay for it.

Ah, reptilian Fox — stunning how many Americans want to be force-fed sewage.
Forest for the trees, could be — to help them overlook their Republican screwage.

Pity poor Tucker. What is this country coming to when you can’t cost your employer almost $800 million without getting sacked for it?

How unlucky can fox get? All those sleazebags on the payroll bringing its reputation down. Maybe whoever does the hiring needs to be fired too.

Out of curiosity, I turned on Fox News just after 8PM Monday. Saw an angry white man yelling at me. Some things never change.

Fox is NOT news! Don’t expect them to be something they are not.
There is a black musician, Barry White, and a white musician, Jack Black. Do we expect them to be their names? No.
People don’t watch Fox News for news. They watch it for toxic lies.
