So does goat live with them now? I’m not against it, it makes sense and it seems like they had more than two rooms. (Or this being a comic strip the house has as many rooms as they say it does unless it has a constant layout like For Better or Worse or Zits), it’s just the first development of any kind in the characters lives i’ve seen since i started reading the strip again.

Sounds like that meeting needs its attendees to be playing bullsh-t bingo. That always helped me tolerate all those meetings filled with corporate bafflegab.

We’ve seen Rat and Pig in various jobs, but I don’t know if we’ve ever seen Goat at work. I wonder what his job is.

Probably not a landscaping company, which would just make him a scapegoat.

This actually reminds me of Pogo, where Walt Kelly would sometimes make fun of corporate lingo. (“Let me just throw this in the creek and watch the ripples rise.”) It’s like it hasn’t changed at all.

Sometime back in the seventies and 80s companies began renaming their departments. Back then the one I worked for changed the name of the Personnel department to Human Resources. As time went by they became more imaginative by renaming the Maintenance department Facilities Operations and then a little later the Graphics department became Visual Communications. What was so wrong with one word titles like Personnel, Maintenance and Graphics?

I don’t think the phrases Rat is talking about rise to the level of ‘jargon’. They are more like pieces of debris in word salad. Simply ways of saying, “Let’s pretend we know what we are talking about but wisely choose to not make any decisions.”
