Spielberg is old enough (72) that he may already have enough projects lined up to last the rest of his life.

For a short while, when I was young, I wondered if Ants had a insect named after them, why didn’t Uncles?

Another Terry Pratchett or Carl Hiassen or. . .better do it today, mom. . .hm m m, maybe science can use this some way. . .what are those ants that move in a sheet and strip everything in their way??? Would they look better in pink? Anybody read the Vorkosigan saga: A Civil Contract which features butterbugs? Thanks, Wiley, for the opportunity to free associate!

That bird with the nest on top of the chimney in the first panel could be in trouble soon. Maybe sooner if Jack notices that he’s been raiding the roof for material for his nest. Also, Charlie’s got great bug eyes as well he should considering what his story is about.

this takes me back to my childhood. I didn’t imagine the ants becoming gigantic. I tended to imagine I shrunk and wandered in their world. Good times, playing in the back yard in the fresh air and sun and dirt with sticks, rocks and bugs.

I’ve been thinking about this all week. I am still disappointed that the original 2/10/19 comic was removed. If you review the original strip the COMPLETELY LEGIBLE text is debatable. I will post my initial impression of the text below. It would seem Wiley is being held responsible for us filling in the blanks of semi-legible scribble.

The reaction to a blurry expression so many thinking people feel at present in our “emergency” and the reaction of a press so either intimidated by, or part of, the right winged bird brains, indicates wherefrom fake fury comes.

Our comics are under assault. Boston Globe cut the comics in half, budget problems, yet they had 10 pages for Sports section. How many sports fans read the paper today? How many sports fans can read? New Bedford Standard, my Sunday paper, hacked their comics/TV section today, yet lots of sports. It makes me mad enough to koff up a hairball.

And the Birmingham News – the paper has removed this comic permanently, apparently because of some vulgar comment in last Sunday’s strip. I went back and for the life of me, even after enlarging to 200%, still could not read the words in the second panel.

All this “hoo-hah” makes me wonder if the local editors were fired for missing the “offensive” bit. And how many other things have been missed?

Toronto Star had a whole column on the editorial page Saturday about how terrible the cartoonist was for doing something that might be read by children, especially as this was an inferred colouring book. I’m touched that they care so much but are still carrying the strip.

It wasn’t a crime…it was just bad taste and should be treated as such. Just give him a whack on the back of his hand with a ruler, and tell him not to do it again.

I am so angry that many newspapers, including “San Diego Union Tribune”, have dropped Non Sequitor due to the “vulgarity” in last Sunday’s strip. This is not the 1950’s, their indignation is phony, their prudery our-dated. I have written to the paper, suggest others do as well!

The kerfuffle over the Non Sequitur message to Donald Trump is like the uproar a few years ago when Janet Jackson’s’ fabulous breast was exposed for a split second during the halftime entertainment of a Super Bowl game. The incident happened so quickly that very few people saw it as it occurred, so millions of people had to go to the internet to find a video of the incident, slow it down to see what happened, then registered a complaint about it. Virtually nobody saw the Non Sequitur scribbling to Trump until some eagle eye spotted it. Then after being told about it, many got upset. If any newspaper editor saw the message before publishing they could have blocked it out and there would be no controversy. They didn’t see it but got upset anyway.
