That’s the one thing about text messages with only five words or so in them- people end up trying to “fill in the blanks” with the first thought that comes to mind, when they don’t have all the “who’s, what’s and whatnot”…. – Of course, Bernice would probably still do that, anyway…even if it were a full paragaraph…

I mean, I wouldn’t start being BFFs with Pru, but I never understood the concept of attacking the “new” person instead of the unfaithful partner.Such a bad idea, even if it hadn’t been formed on an erroneous assumption.

    -

It’s a lot to ask of Team Evans’, but if they put their creative minds to work, I sure we can have Bernice living in a cardboard box, next to the Fuse, where all the student dorm residence can verbally abuse Bernice as she begs for coins to help maintain her meth habit. Gosh, that would be so great to read over the summer months!!

Well, at least there’s one good thing to come from this strip. As misguided as it is, in this case, it’s still good to see Bern willing to defend Lu instead of ribbing her all the time. I’ve always felt that Bern’s ribbing of Lu was of that nature (i.e. older sibling always ribbing the younger, but defending same to the death).

So she immediately assumes Quill dumped Luann instead of Luann dumped Quill? And everyone else will probably think the same thing?-If I were Luann I’d be highly offended. -And Quill, to protect his precious ego, will probably tell everyone that the breakup was HIS idea.-A few days ago, someone suggested that there might be someone (like Mr. Gray) lurking nearby, who overheard Lu and Quill’s fight. I hope so, so they can help set the record straight.I

I don’t comment very often, but why can you never see anything good? Why must you always be complaining about something? Two days ago you said you were insulting Luann’s lack of effort in figuring out what she wants to do. A lot of young people take a while to figure things out. Life isn’t always a straight, well-defined line. I was one of those people. I could not decide what I wanted to do, and I finally majored in something that I have barely used in my professional life. Give Luann some time. I think she’s doing fine.Yesterday your comment was that you “don’t like the 180 on Quill.” I actually agreed with that somewhat, that Quill’s personality has soured fairly rapidly from what it first was. So it is not that one comment per se that is the problem, it is that I don’t think I have ever seen you start a post with “I DO like.” You are usually talking about what you don’t like.Today the strip is not interesting because characters have apparently not been developed to your liking. But what would BE to your liking is to see something bad happen: a falling out of Bernice and Luann, who have been friends from the start of this strip. Then you criticize Bernice as the worst counselor in the strip. What I see projected in your posts is a dark outlook on life. We can all criticize the strip once and a while but from reading your posts every day I am left wondering what brings you here, beyond simply complaining about and insulting (using your word) the strip and its characters. That seems quite the depressing endeavor to me.

I see. In complaining about things every day and never taking a positive view, you feel that your “contribution” here is unique. You feel that consistent complaints and a negative outlook gain validity in part because they are unlike the rest.Excuse me, but I say bollocks to that. Consistent complaining is just what it says it is: consistent complaining. Nobody likes that. It adds nothing to the forum and in fact subtracts from it. Certain of your comments may have some valid points on their own, but as an overall practice or strategy or whatever you would like to call it, if what brings you here is the opportunity to register complaints every day, then that overall practice loses all validity. Nobody likes a constant complainer. And usually the more such a person does it, the less and less it will resonate with other people, eventually coming to the point where such complaints are just the buzzing again of an annoying gnat.Your use of “Team Evans” also appears to be designed as a put-down to the creators of the strip, as if you are saying that even though it took a team to write this strip, it still is not turning out to your satisfaction. Thus diminishing the work of both Greg and Karen.I would like you to think about these things, please.

Imp wrote,This would be interesting if there was anything worth losing. So Bernice goes down there and yells at Prudence…does it matter? We barely know Prudence…in fact, it’d be more surprising if she didn’t leave the strip with Quill when the time comes, so this only makes that scenario even more likely. What would be interesting though is if Luann gets mad at Bernice for confronting Prudence like a crazy person, and they have a falling out over it.

At any rate, this is further evidence that Bernice is probably the worst counselor in the entire strip.-—-

Oh, i think it DOES matter. There are multiple ways that Pru might come to matter as a character who moves plot forward. Time will tell us all. At the moment, like Piro, she is more of a mystery than anything else EXCEPT that she envies Luann’s family situation (which MIGHT become complicated in a mix of good and bad ways), she loves theatre and gets along with people discussing it, and she appears very afraid of not constantly showing a positive face.

Bernie is still trying hard to live by the book while letting some of real life filter in, but she has lived such a constrained life that she lacks a decent filter and she does not know how to weigh things and how to observe, she is also very hard on herself.

This means that depanding on how it is written this meeting could have real ramifications — or not.

I really, really, really (really, really, really, really and i coukd keep going on) would personally prefer it if people except in truly extreme circumstances left out personal insults against other people here, AND if the people insulted would choose to be classy and ignore those posts when they appear because insults from peripheral people are not a big deal in real life unless they are inflated in importance. Sometimes either side can be venting, sometimes flame baiting or flame fanning, or maybe someone had a really rotten day, or maybe someone is in pain, or whatever. (Sending you hugs in the last two specified cases.)

For the rest of us at least there is scrolling, but some participants have at times made excellent points to consider, making me loathe to scroll, and others who have enjoyed previous good points made may feel the same. We do not want to ignore any of you, but might at times ourselves not want the fighting annoyance on top of things in our own lives, so might have to miss some excellent posts due to scrolling when those people have been venting that day. Please, do not so deprive us.

    Oh, please stop.

As has been patiently explained to you by more than one poster whose names are not Implausible, “Team Evans” is an accepted term among the posters here as a way to refer to Greg and Karen (and anyone else in the family who might be involved … remember that week of fill-in strips by Greg’s grandson?).

Or would you like to start an argument with all of us who use that term?

Most people here seem to have pointed out time and again that people who are Luann’s age meet new people. Now, some individuals tend to just jump in and get to know new people pretty fast, but others take their time, and that can even change with age. How else are we going to have new characters in this strip appear except to, well, have them appear? And if they are minor characters at first, isn’t that how it often works in life? The Evans Family Team is stuck with one heck of a Catch 22 if they are expected to introduce new characters but then that very introduction, slow or fast, is bemoaned and the characters are expected to be minor players.

I’m getting pretty sick of Evans forcing/creating issues by having the characters being exceptionally dumb and immature. Doesn’t he realize that we read the comic and know the characters? Ugh.

Implausible has on a number of days provided some very interesting insights. Those posts from Imp interest me. If you ignore those posts then perhaps you coukd infer an intonation, but when those posts are taken into account i think the inference you seem to make about the term “Team Evans” flies out the window. Perhaps having been annoyed by some other posts, some of which might honest havevalso annoyed me, you mssed the insightful ones that Imp has repeatedly proven able to create.

Bernice should have taken a brownie break. Since she believes that the brownies have ‘additional ingredients’, that would have been enough to calm her down, and avoid potential disasters.

But I’m guessing that ‘potential disasters’ are desired, at present…

A comment for those questioning cooking in college dormitories and/or the existence of kitchens in same:

The current trend in on-campus housing is to eliminate the traditional dormitory model (double occupancy rooms that may or may not have a private bathroom) and transition to apartment style housing units that include private bedrooms, at least one private bathroom, a common area, and a kitchenette (if not a full kitchen). The ‘no cooking in the dorm’ prohibition bandied about in comments here is only relevant for traditional dormitory setting in which cooking could only be accomplished by portable appliances, such as hotplates or camp stoves. Further, many universities that still have traditional dormitory style housing now allow microwaves in individual rooms, which provides the ability to have non-prohibited cooking even in more traditional settings.

More importantly for the discussion in the comments above, a fair number of universities across the country have completed the transition to apartment style housing and no longer have traditional dormitories at all. Some do not even administer the on-campus housing but instead hire management companies to do so (or let private developers build and manage on-campus housing).

The prior university at which I worked had some traditional on-campus housing left, but most of the student housing, including most of the underclassmen housing, was apartment style that included at least a kitchenette, and the traditional dormitory housing was being converted to office space as new housing was completed. The university at which I work now eliminated all traditional dormitory housing over ten years ago and only has apartment style on-campus housing.

The fictional Moony U seems to have apartment style on-campus housing (private bedrooms, common areas in the rooms, etc.), thus it seems reasonable to infer the existence of a kitchenette or kitchen in the individual rooms.

@DavidHuieGreen“The writing has the same flavor.”??“I am not sure what you mean.I like your frequently humorous posts, by the way!”.Thank you..Better to not take it all too seriously.People get excessively invested in this art..Some want it to follow arbitrary literary rules and complain and complain when it seems they aren’t..Others simply want Luann perpetually happy.Others hate Luann and want her perpetually unhappy..Some women who claim to have been raped see every male as a perpetual rapist. Those who had unhappy childhoods see child neglect in every adult action..Modified ink blot test..Can’t explain the flavors of language and word usage..Generally speaking, different writers write differently, speakers speak differently. The brain can interpret those differences as flavors; mine often does..Example: My brother liked Lewis Grizzard.I was telling him he should enjoy Mike Royko’s writing because he wrote the same way Grizzard would have if he had grown up in Chicago instead of Georgia. When Grizzard died, his obituary mentioned he credited Royko for his mentoring when he started out.Similar flavor.

Implausible finds joy in faulting the artists of this artistry because it isn’t as Implausible would do it if Implausible could do it.

.I suspect jealousy after a while, rather than art appreciation and maybe a wee bit of what is sometimes called trolling — making statements designed to provoke disagreement.Let joy be found where it can be found.(Oh and a beloved fan named ReallyBad used to do the same thing with the same flavor to writing. After a meltdown, RB abandoned us, only to be replaced by a brand new fan named ReallyBad2 with the same flavor until yet another meltdown deprived us of the joy of reading that one but Implausible joined us soon after. Please try not to provoke THIS completely different art critic, because of surprising sensitivity in one who some rare times seems to be trying to provoke others.)

Bernice don’t go after Pru because that is going to be what she wants you too do so she can learn from you that Quill is all the way free . I don’t trust Pru one single bit . To me Pru is controlling, manipulative and possessive . She has shown that behavior and I believe that Pru did hook up with Quil in NY because she called him a man when talking about that Boomerang Necklace .

Before Quill left for NY he was in deep passion with Luann nearly going all the way and then when he comes back from NY its like its gone as I don’t even think they even kissed since he came back . Plus, Quill only used Yank when Luann came to pick him up now he has been referring to her as Luann when Yank used to be her name all the time .

Pru and Quill showed attachment with each other which Quill is going to be wishing he never met Pru because Pru is going to suddenly be showing her Tru colors to Quill as Pru will become possessive of Quill that I believe she will spy and stalk him. What will happen with Bernice she will be smug and grinning possibly with laughter inside . Then if Quill shows up she will play him like she’s the damsel whose getting hurt .

Her other signs of manipulative behavior is how she Invited herself to the show at The Fuse without being invited . She just chose to show up there . Got people fond of her except for Bernice and Luann .

Pru knew that Luann didn’t trust her at all so when Pru made the decision that she was going to be still staying with the Degroots she had to sway Luann by doing a oh I grew up in a foster home which I think is a lie . Due to the fact that was said after the Christmas show clean when she said Quill and I don’t have family here . Which means she truly does have family .

Plus, when Pru shows she’s so helpful , giving and so out there it’s a cover up or another way to get people to go oh she’s not that way because to me Pru is too good to be true .

many story lines involve going back in time to kill Hitler before he killed his first victim.the same effect could’ve been achieved simply by keeping him out of politics, perhaps by buying his paintings or hiring him as a security guard.Anything but paying him to spy on the National Socialist Party.

“Still wouldn’t work for your timeline. That would remain unchanged as the new one would have split off. The only way would be to stay in that new time line but your time ship isn’t constructed to move laterally in space-time-vug.”

.Actually, changing time lines would mean you COULDN’T go home to the original without going sideways in time. Like going back to before you took a fork in the road and taking the other. You go to a different place..Back to the Future took that into account by going back before split, still never returned to original timeline.

@Night-Gaunt49“So now you are moving into what ever you think you see is true for you territory. Yet if we didn’t agree on most of it we would have very little reason to survive from day-to-day. I call that an appeal for nihilism.”.You are misreading me.I didn’t say it was good, just that it is common. Many people barely touch reality in their minds. They assume enemies everywhere. They think they can create value by setting minima. They think they can turn the tide if they fight long enough, and that they DID turn the tide when it goes back out..The reality is that not everybody faces reality..

@Night-Gaunt49Here’s a fair example.Prudence never did anything to hurt Luann and Quill, but many remained convinced she was conniving. In their own world..@Kymberleigh“SPOILER ALERT: Pru turns out to be a pretty nice person after all”

Otherwise you are a-okay.”.You never read TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ?Or do you think the black man was guilty because the woman claimed it?.I acknowledge rape happens.I do not assume people never lie about rape..Even Hillary acknowledged that when it was pointed out that many women had accused her husband, Bill.
