For me, it’s the Hershey Kisses playing We Wish You A Merry Christmas on TV.

At first sight i read “Bung” (from Wizard of Id). After all he also has a red nose.

Darn straight!

For me,it’s frosty the snowman.

Ours was local “person” reading letters to santa on our B/W TV circa 1955 ish. We LOVED it!

Amen, Brother! (Though I will add Frosty, Charlie Brown, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Karloff, not Carrey.) )

My holiday season show starter is Charlie Brown’s Christmas.

I’m not crazy about holiday movies. I’m always afraid I’ll shoot my eye out.

Bumbles Bounce doesn’t ring a bell.

Unfortunately if you see them on national TV, they are chopped up or edited so much to put in commercials its ridiculous. That’s why I have all the major ones from my childhood on disc/Blu-Ray. Get the complete film with no commercials, and can see them at my leisure.

I have the DVD – and I do seriously use that cartoon to kick off the season every year! (It was always the first of the specials to come on TV during the Christmas season when I was a kid – and I’ve maintained the tradition!)

All the Whos in Whoville are disappointed.

It starts after December 6. That was my late husband’s edict, and it’s followed faithfully.

My favorite was claymation raisins

We celebrate the Winter Solstice. It doesn’t get the support and recognition that Christmas does, but it has a much longer history.

I’m the one in charge of “humbugery”. I wait ’til the last minute.

Official was always Santa ending the parade on Thanksgiving… that started Christmas and you saw no sign of it till that moment.

For many it is “A Charlie Brown Christmas”

We vary the one we watch first but have them on DVD because you never know who will buy the rights and make you subscribe to their service if you want to watch them. I can’t imagine a Christmas without Charlie Brown and Rudolph.

My grandkids aren’t allowed to watch Christmas movies until after Thanksgiving dinner. Their first choice is always Home Alone.

Started when Charlie Brown Christmas was shown. I saw where it would not be shown this year. I am sad.

A classic, most definitely. My favorite though is “A Christmas Carol” with George C. Scott as Scrooge. Tree goes up this coming week and the music in the car is all Christmas. Still the most wonderful time of the year,….

I love that TV movie, too, there Brutus. But, my favorite Xmas movie is a Broadway style of Scrooge. Among my favorite scenes is the Xmas yet to come with the singing of the song, Thankyou, Very Much, Thankyou, Very Much, That’s the Nicest Thing Anyone’s Ever Done For Me. And who can forget the scene where Scrooge becomes Father Christmas.

Back before I retired, and my motorbike/machine shop was still open, the season started on 1 December, with me lining up all the mini-bikes and go-karts out front with ribbons and bows, for kids to want and hopefully, parents to buy. One year when times were a bit lean, nobody bought one, so I found myself with lots of machines but very little money. Solution: that year my kids each got a go-kart as one of their Hanukkah presents. Prior to that they’d all had to share a kart, so they thought it was great!

i got rid of cable and went streaming, now I can’t watch rudolph or santa is coming to town. They want to sell me something that’s been on for 30 years. Even though i have live TV on Youtube TV it says “unavailable for live streaming” when it comes on. But i can rent it or buy it! really?

We’d have to wait and wait till it came on and if you missed it… That’s it! You had to wait and wait for another year! Now you just record it and watch it anytime you like. (I can’t decide if that’s better or not?)

Family traditions are a special treasure this time of year. And I bet Wilberforce will pass them on to his kids and grandkids. Good job daddying Brutus – you’re a winner!

It’s not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Tower.

OK Chip, ya got me. Brutus watching Bumbles (I have no idea what that is) and Bumbles is Bouncing, then Brutus is pointing at the Bumbles program and saying it’s “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, what gives. Was the first panel a mistake and should have been with another strip? But the last 2 frames make up for it, very funny…

Nicely done, Brutus. Well done.

For me it’s watching ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ (the original)

They moved this strip and Breaking Cat News again.

In Cleveland it used to be, “Mister Jingling”(How you’re tingling, keeper of the keys.) Then Halles folded…..

With me, it’s Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original with Boris Karloff narrating, not the two follow ups that came later) and The Year Without a Santa Claus, featuring Mickey Rooney as Santa and Shirley Booth as Mrs. Claus.

I hadn’t thought about it until just now. We live in a little town on a 2 lane road with zero traffic lights. However we have a Christmas Parade at sunset every year. The road is under construction and the side walks are torn up and orange barrels everywhere. Piles of dirt and yellow tape line the “shifting lanes”. On my way home there were kids in bright colored clothes sitting on barrels and on dirt piles. At the library 20 Sheriff cars. We’re shutting her down for 20-30 minutes and life goes on here as it has in the past. The truckers will be allowed through right after the parade is over and the kids will be cheering at them to blow their horns. Merry Christmas everyone!
