The attachment to social media many people have reminds me of Harry Harlow’s experiments with very young monkeys, where they were induced to form attachments to artificial mothers. It seems people are similarly fooled into thinking an inanimate object can satisfy their need for social fulfillment. (side note: Harlow’s lab was just a few blocks from where I lived while I attended the University of Wisconsin.)

Moderation/consideration/altruism are traits that make America exceptional … unlike the intolerant extremism that self-centered tyrants use.

That box has been open for a long time and we’ve lost the key.

X has lost an estimated 90% of its value since Musk bought it. Advertisers are leaving in droves since Musk’s concurrence with an anti-semitic tweet last Wednesday.

More people than just Sacha Baron Cohen are worried about TikTok. Ireland just fined TikTok over US $350 million for misusing childrens’ data. Ireland is not alone.

TikTok has never made a profit. Its ability to operate indefinitely at a loss suggests that TikTok is being subsidized by the Chinese government, which is run by the Chinese Communist Party. The CEO of TikTok is a Chinese citizen. All Chinese citizens must obey CCP orders, such as one to foment division among Americans by popularizing attacks against Jews. Or one to popularize Osama bin Laden as a folk hero.

Anybody see anything positive about not banning TikTok?

Social media has gotten too big for it’s britches and now is a threat to governments around the world. The Roman Catholics back in the day had it right when they discouraged the masses learning stuff.

Nobody is seeing the main point of this cartoon. All 3 have announced that they’re going to allow ads by the Republican Fascist Party saying that the 2020 election was stolen reversing their own policies following Jan 6th when the coup was very close to succeeding. They’ve decided that taking money and sucking up to the Fascists will save them on the off chance they win in 2024. Hate to break it to them, but Fascists always turn on you. Yes, even you Musk no matter blatantly anti-Semitic you are.
