TENNESSEE SHAME — three legislators expressed the same noble support for children over battlefield mass casualty weapons in exactly the same manner in exactly the same protest, standing together in the well of the Capitol as they did it, but only those of African descent were successfully expelled in an act of overt, blatant racism.
Tennessee, a state that once committed treason in rebellion against the United States to support their “right” to own other human beings, is where the Ku Klux Klan was founded, where Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated and the state that gave us genocidal Andrew Jackson, the owner of enslaved African Americans and the mass murderer who concocted the Trail of Tears genocide against Indigenous Americans, today lived down to the worst of their reputation as a gerrymandered legislature voted to overthrow democracy. SHAME!
There should be federal oversight on these blatant thefts of power. States rights should preclude stacking one side or the other 20 years in federal prison should be about right.
It’s painful to watch a self-empowered 2 party system turned — via redistricting/gerrymandering — into an unrepresentative unitary self-serving monstrosity … that no longer conforms to the will of its people.
The usually perspicacious Clay Bennett seriously overestimates the intelligence level of Tennessee Republicans. They have repeatedly shown that they do not rise to the intelligence level of dummies.
One doesn’t take a legislative chamber hostage and use a bullhorn to shout out your demands – regardless of how noble your cause is. However, throwing out the black and keeping the white created extremely bad optics that will harm all Republicans everywhere in the next election.
I pray God balances their racial and ignorant actions allowing each of those republicans to experience what the parents of the decease children are experiencing, yes their children and grandchildren are innocent; but God has a terrible way to teach those followers of false gods.
The Democrats control 95% of the media, 100% of the unions and all of the large cities in the country. What is it that they are accusing the Republicans of that they are not doing themselves?
The state that gave birth to the KKK. The state where MLK was murdered. The state where two uppity Black lawmakers were expelled. Lots to be proud of Tennessee. Try and rationalize this disgusting act. The world knows better. The entire world knows exactly what you’re doing. The world is watching. Shame on the Tennessee Legislature and the state of Tennessee.
We would never have heard of the 3 people targeted if they’d just looked the other way. Stupid is not a strong enough description of those who expelled duly elected officials.
Let’s see..silence Black, duly-elected legislators and expel them while exalting and canonizing the white lying Fascist and making sure his allies are armed. “Dummies” doesn’t begin to cover it.
Republicans love guns more than children. This has proven that emphatically though we all knew that long ago. They hate women and minorities with a fiery passion as this and Idaho have proven. If we don’t vote out every single Fascist across the country soon, we won’t have to worry about whether we’re in a Democracy or a Republic because we’ll be in the Fascist Hellhole that Republicans are desperate to turn us into.

The TN QOP is evil. If they were caught in a mass shooting (and without any weapons), they’d still defend the NRA.

It’s just coincidence that Black legislators were expelled while the White one wasn’t ….

Americans have lost their loyalty, scruples, and sensibilities‼️Don’t like something, get rid of it.
Don’t like others opinions, get rid of them

Surely there were steps between they COULD have taken…censure, removal of committee assignment, etc…but they went for the nuclear option. Sad
