He probably wasn’t replaced by AI but he probably was replaced by someone who could use AI.

There is a good possibility of replacing tech support with A.I.

I’d like to see S.I. — Smartificial Intelligence. But not even a lot of humans have that.

We will know that “A”.I. has truly arrived when it insists on being called “Constructed Intelligence”. Because there’s nothing “fake” or “superficial” about its powers. So, respect. Or tin cups.

Fine, as long as the accent of the A.I. isn’t from India.

A.I.—not artificial, certainly not intelligent. if it can’t pass the turing test, it is a machine…

Considering the comments being offered about Google’s AI, I don’t think everyone will be joining up very soon. Certainly not I.

I began using a typewriter before they had electric cords and I have progressed through most of their improvements, including one that had a small lcd screen in the front face to show what I was typing before I let it print. [That, at least, was helpful.] And now I’m using the usual array of stuff, from desktop to laptop to notebook and, to me, it’s all just another addition to the keyboard, which, thank the gods, has never changed.

It’s just a tool, Friends, and not another version of Superman or Mandrake the Magician. Just a tool, despite the hype and glitter, and just as quirky as the old manuals, whose keys sometimes became so tangled one had to use a tool to separate the clusters. In fact, I still prefer those because I could repair them on my own without having to listen to clangy music and twisted American accents from far away lands. So much for change.

AI — something man invented so he wouldn’t have to think about or solve the complexities of modern life.

If intelligence can be artificial, why is stupidity so real?

Speaking of obsolescence: Suppose you received a call from your car company that informed you that you could no longer use the car you had just purchased. That it was being phased out by a newer model and would no longer operate as promised nor be upgraded to include new technologies.

Suppose the same thing for anything electronic in your home – from the kitchen to the attic – that you had a very short time to UPGRADE.

Suppose you were told you have to purchase newer models of all those things at the market price, and that your ‘old’ models would just be canned or just ‘pretend’ recycled.

Just like your very expensive pocket entertainment center – your cell phone.

Wonder how long that would last before somebody got mad and said ‘never again?’

And, oh yes, let’s not overlook the inaction of those who are elected in part to protect the populace from predatory corporations.

Oh, that’s right. They don’t do that anymore. Too time consuming and too dangerous to their incomes to chance doing the right thing.

AI is being used to solve incredibly complex problems in medical science and physics without which would take humans decades. Its a lot more than a chat program

Sooner or later, everything gets to be obsolete. Hopefully, the replacement will be better and not a problem that the upgrades overlooked. “New and improved” in many cases that I have encountered, wasn’t. New, for sure, improved, absolutely NOT!

Embrace the future, people! If we can stick computers and robots with all the mind-numbing, routine scut work that no human being should ever have to do, it will free up both our time and our creativity to do the things we really all wish we could’ve been doing all along. It’s kind of like being able to retire at age 22.
