There is something to Luann’s method of shopping. If you get something you like for a friend there is a likelihood that they will like it, too. But why would anyone shop for a gift for someone while they were there. Unless it to point out how flat chested Berince is. Rather than shopping in the Young Miss section Luann should be shopping in the Boys department for clothes to Bernice. Also when has clothes ever been racked by size. They’re racked by style.

Ah yes, the age old, “I got you something I’d get for myself,” route. Always a classic.

I once told my wife I was going to go out and buy her something with four wheels and an airbag. You should have seen the look on her face when she unwrapped her new vacuum cleaner! The same tears of joy as when I got her a brand new wheelbarrow and some really nice shovels.

Heck, she really uses the heck out of the dandy oxy-acetylene torch I got her for our anniversary; it makes the best brittle caramelized sugar top on the crème brûlée.

I think she is going to be wanting a nice floor – standing drill press or a band saw next. She is so easy to shop for!

As always, Bernice looks at Luann with judgmental eyes, but where are HER Christmas shopping?This reminds me of how many years I have given books to my relatives or friends without even thinking that they might not have the same passion for reading as I did (and why I wanted to read those books/comics). I still do it, a bit… but now I’m trying to think about what the other might like.

That’s right. The recipients won’t have to ask Luann to make any returns or exchanges. Just give the gifts right back to Luann. It’s the thought that counts.

Luann is so obnoxious and unpleasant that she makes Pepper Ann look like Mother Teresa.

It’s an “all about me generation”

Once again Luann is displayed as a selfish, childish, inconsiderate daughter and sister. She shops for herself under the guise of gift giving. Greg is lucky his drawings are good enough to carry this strip, because the stories aren’t worth tuning in for.

Why buy a new fountain pen when you can get a nice 50’s Parker 51 or a nice 60’s Parker 45 (which is when Parker developed a cartridge and converter which has fit all Parker’s since.

If you want to spend more, get a Sheaffer Snorkel, a very nice pen. Of course dad would like a Sheaffer PFM with the snorkel filler but they are very expensive and some would be offended by the PFM name.

I can’t speak on Lu’s “gift selections” for her fam, but buying Bernice clothes s three sizes too big might not be such a bad idea.

Baggy ill-fitting clothes for women (and men) might even be THE hipster trend for 2023 and beyond.

Well, at least this is in-character for Luann, who has repeatedly been portraying as an absolutely godawful gift-giver.

People often buy for other people things they like themselves. Nothing very odd or selfish about it, seems to me.

The “Luann is thoughtless and selfish” thing is getting old. She’s at least 18 (19? 20?). Shouldn’t she have outgrown this at least a little by now?

Looks like both Luann and Berniece are pretty svelte. Sizes Medium and Small.

I can do that kind of gifting with my sister only. We’re only two years apart in age so we have a lot of the same likes and dislikes. With everyone else, I have to ask for Christmas lists.
