    But who is counting.

True forgiveness is letting the situation go, and not bringing it up again.

At 491 does Pam become Irritable Belle and Shove Cliff into an airlock?

The thing is … if you were truly forgiving, you would not be counting.

So bible also supports slavery and killing witches (Exodus 21,22), so take it with a grain of salt.

Some of us probably exceeded in the thousands in terms of forgiveness. Case in point: Jesus

Isn’t there supposed to be a requirement in there of the offender acknowledging his/her wrongdoing, sincerely repenting of it, and remedying any damage done before asking for forgiveness?

Well if Pam is keeping count there has been no forgiveness. It’s more a case of her patience wearing thin and her wondering how much more she can take.

Advantage of that, especially with a former workmate, was that I’d lose count before I got there and have to start over.

I’m sure there are people who really feel that those numbers are meant to be taken literally.

Easiest to forgive when there is actual repentance.

Yes, it’s a figure of speech, not a hard limit.
