Chester Gould made his villains purposely ugly to reflect their inner/moral deficiencies. Mr. Memory looks like a normal guy, and it’s throwing me off.
The colorist did a wonderful job on today’s strip! Beautiful gradations on the egg (and that back highlight!) , the lighting on his face from the computer screen and the ambient lighting :) Two thumbs up!
BO; those look to be pretty small eggs. Don’t your laying hens produce larger ones? And, the price pf a dozen eggs, even grade “A” large, doesn’t equal the cost of a gallon of gas nowadays. Unfortunately.
5-MEMORY: Spare me the Clockwork Orange quotes. Hmmm… Walter has failed miserably at supplying me with a morning breakfast. I shall enjoy these. Thank you and good day, sir. I SAID GOOD DAY! SLAM! _Oops…
That is applying the good neighbor policy, I congratulate you, few people do it nowadays (good for B.O.).On the other hand, that computers entered the banks was a mistake and a curse, before computers, thieves had to enter with a band and a gun and say “hands up”, now with a computer terminal, they can loot a whole bank without leaving their house!
This story is leaning really hard into the whole “It’s computer stuff, you wouldn’t understand” trope. So far this guy has supposedly plundered hundreds of billions of dollars in assets cleaning out five financial institutions (don’t ask how he’s acquiring and liquidating these assets or where the money is going, I’m pretty sure Mike Curtis didn’t think about any of that), and it’s only whetted his appetite? Is he some kind of financial terrorist looking to destroy the economy? When are we getting his manifesto?
Something I’ve begun to mull over: is Walter “Chekhov’s Owl?”
Now that B.O. has gifted Mr. Memory with a dozen fresh (if small) eggs, a gift Memory accepts graciously, be it noted, I am wondering if somewhere down the line a confrontation will take place between Walter the Owl and the Plenty chickens, leading to neighborhood acrimony and consequently leading Tracy to Mr. Memory and connecting him to the five, count them, five, bank robberies he today claims to have already committed?
You’d think a high-tech wizard like Mr. Memory would have some sort of front door video surveillance system so he would know who was knocking at his door.

You picked me up the other day. Appreciate the lift
Hens are busy where I live, so here’s a little gift.
Fresh eggs like these taste oh so good, scrambled, poached, or fried
Pancake batter or French toast with sweet syrup applied.
For me, I choose an omelet, with peppers, ham, and cheese
Have a hungry family, so go through loads of these.
On the side, potatoes and fresh bread toasted just right
Should Gertie whip up biscuits, there’s bound to be a fight
For the final savory, a gravy-soaked quick bread
No eggs needed for this treat, just like Gertie said.
I’ll take my leave now, neighbor. A good turn deserves another
I had a flat. You picked me up. Done right, just like a brother.

Good morning™, all!
B.O. interrupted just in the nick of time before Mr. Memory expanded his attacks beyond the five banks whose management we’ve already met.
I’m wondering if B.O. has pygmy chickens or is it just another example of Mr. Memory’s large hands? They seem like very small eggs.

I find it funny that B.O. feels the need to repeat his name and give a reminder of their past meeting to someone named Mr. Memory.

This Memory fellow has put me in mind of James Beard. Yet today, in the first panel, he seems to look more like Peter Ustinov.

I like how when Mr. Memory stands (looms) in the doorway, he resembles an owl – large chest, wings tucked back, feathery chin and a beak.
