@Ling Today’s strip Is funny , our HERO Mr Andrew Capp’s grasp of French is very limited thinking hors is horse meat :o) my avatar is a picture of a Ford model T like my dad had when he was in the Sudan , I have a photo of my late sister Caroline sitting in it , come passerai il vostro Sabato mio piu men vecchio amicho? our Saturday should be a little busy but we will cope I hope , we both are in a good mood and after our bulk shopping is done ,we have no more errands to run , just stay inside the house and keep hydrated because it’s windy outside, keep safe and a bientot pal

And he never had the hors d’oeuvre there, either.

Maybe the madam was offering the same lady of the evening to do over again. Which would explain the stink eye from Flo.

This is the strip that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. There was a French meal joke two weeks ago on the same day that this strip appeared in the Daily Mirror.

A Brit waiter in a French restaurant is amusing by itself. Doubly so if said Brit doesn’t know the h and s in hors are both silent.

The ‘H’ is silent. I doubt the snooty waiter would mispronounce it. This only works because we can read the spelling.

Andy, let me enlighten you. It’s a French restaurant. That means you’ll be spending all your money, but the portions will be so small that when you leave (five hours later because the service will be so interminably slow) you still WILL be hungry enough to eat a horse. Hope you packed a few extra bucks so you can stop off at Burger King on your way home, because you’ll need to. (Yes, this is based on personal experience so I know of what I speak).

Archie and Jughead in a fancy restaurant:

Snooty Waiter: “Gentlemen, may I suggest a demitasse?”

Jughead (trying to be cultured): “Excellent suggestion, my good man… then, we’ll have coffee!”

    Archie: (face-palm)
