Their technical ability to make saws is way ahead of their hammer technology.

Don’t call it nicer, call it evolution.

    “It’s nicer than our cave.”

The dog is more honest and trustworthy than any man, so he deserves better.

A saw needs to be a technical instrument to work, a hammer just is something to pound with.

The cave won’t fall down when the wolf huffs and puffs and blows at the cave. The house of wood will fall down when the wolf huffs and puffs and blows the wooden house down.

I’m not going to get into where cavemen came up with framing and pegs, etc. But, for most dogs, all they need is a lean to roof and some cool ground. All the rest of that neat house is just wasted material.

And that dog house may look well constructed, but come Winter and parts of Summer, wolf dog will want to sleep in the cave where the temps are warmer and cooler, respectively.

No matter how you feel about it’s usefulness, that is one big doghouse.

How am I just now noticing that two men share a cave? (TBH, I never used to pay much attention to this strip when it was preaching)

A hint to the future, but caves can stand up to storms, intense cold, intense heat, dinosaurs, …

The saw was invented approximately 5000 BC, by Germanic tribesmen. They nicked small teeth into half moon shaped flints..

I’ve always wondered why we transitioned from living in caves to flimsy wooden houses, not enough caves? No caves in nice neighborhoods?

I know this is just a cartoon, but if you were to use the toon as plans (blueprint) that particular doghouse would not survive the first windstorm. The framing is all wrong.

It’s a three bedroom with wall to wall carpet, Air conditioning, a gourmet kitchen. Mid century modern furniture? How is that even possible??

You need to have room for yourself when your wife brings up an old complaint. In the mean time, the dog will appreciate the loft and another the old quilt.

I didn’t know they had enough trees to make the amount of lumber for such a large dog house, never mind the lack of a lumber mill…

My dog would never want to be separated from me into a doghouse. I wouldn’t like it either. I do get a laugh out of the technology and all that this comic shows existed BC. They would drive archaeologists nuts!

I’d rather be sleeping in the cave. Give me a few thermal blankets, and I could probably get a good night’s rest.
