One of my husband’s very good friends has a wife who is just a bit crazy (to put it nicely i guess lol) well she decided her husband’s feet were smelly and came to the conclusion that they should be soaked nightly in straight undiluted vinegar! After about 10 days of this you could smell him coming lol
Reminds me of…..“Now more than once the town had discovered, painting over it ain’t no use. There ain’t no paint in the world that’ll cover it; the heart keeps showing through. In John Deere Green!”
Oh how I wish I cold find the folks who used to comment on the Hints from Heloise column in the Washington Post. baking soda was routinely touted as a way to eliminate odors (Narrator: it does work).
Put them in a plastic bag, seal it and put it in the freezer for a couple of days. Meanwhile, soak your feet in hydrogen peroxcide for about 20 minutes each day. Will get rid of any odor, and also athlete’s foot.
I have a pair of slippers just like that. I took them to a friend’s house years ago as they did not wear shoes in their house. When we left, I put them in the entry closet so they would be there for the next visit. They could not figure out why their dog was always barking at the closet door until they finally opened it and saw my slippers. I would always throw the dog’s toy for her and she was sure I was in the closet and wanted me to come out to play.
Because Opal is so fixated on finding fault with every little thing, she has no room for happiness, and wouldn’t know what to do if it did enter her life!
I worked with an older women in a deli, I knew she had to be AT LEAST in her 80’s.She would complain about her husband for hours on end. I got to meet him, finally…at their 75th wedding anniversary party !

I’m not convinced there’s anything baking soda can’t do… except for lower something’s pH.

now Opal has to buy a new pair of pink rabbit slippers (and maybe a pair for Earl)

Only alternative is if they’ll shrink in the wash.

’Reminds me of a guy I knew in the service.
The odor from his boots would knock a vulture off a honey wagon at forty paces . . .
‘Wish I’d known about the baking soda thing.

How about, rather than throw them out, give them to Earl – so it’s not a total loss/waste.

I renewed an old pair of tennies by pouring in a generous amount of rubbing alcohol. It dries very fast and the next day the shoes were odorless.

1. I’m with Opal on this one. 2. If Earl is taking shower or baths, and his feet are that bad, maybe he needs a checkup.

If baking soda were that effective, one could sprinkle it on Earl and he would disappear.

NO! They’re good yet - stuff them with Limburger / garlic cheese, seal them in a bag, and put them in the hot garage for the summer.
