“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” (Sir Walter Scott 1808)
The web ensnares, the noose tightens, the screws turn and the web of lies, treason, obstruction and violent disregard for others catch the webmaster and all his pathetic little lying toadies.
Donald Trump and his gang of miscreant grifters have spent a lifetime avoiding consequences. His final days will be a grand reckoning as the bills finally come due and there is no more Daddy or Vladdy to bail him out.
Sadly, also ensnared will be those whose only failing was their abysmal gullibility and ignorance.
People are wondering why Merrick Garland seems to be biding his time. I think he’s waiting to get all the early dominoes lined up so that, when they start to topple, they’ll run all the way up to the big fat orange one at the end of the line.
I was going to comment that we have a good run of ’toons from Clay and Luck… then realised they have such a rich seam of material to work with. They will have to work harder when the Orange Horror gets a matching jumpsuit and his own personal Pen Palace. And you have reasonably competent and reasonably honest WH.
Unless Trump, Meadows, Eastman, the radical subversive Bannon, and the whole coup crew are held responsible, prosecuted, and sentenced to the maximums allowable under law, American democracy has no way home.
I see where more and more of his “Supporters” are turning on him, and relaying their information on his planned attempt to overthrow the Legitimate Government of the United States to the Jan. 6 committee. Turns out that LYING to them and manipulating them to do his bidding hasn’t worked out quite as well as he THOUGHT it would!
^^^^Hypocritical MontanaSwill is projecting his own alt-right party media and people that he admires their bad behavior onto innocent Americans. His dear leader is the most guilty of all.
I can only hope yet again that all these vile corrupt people will pay for their anti-democratic dreams. The courts let trump get away with so much before he was the former failed malignant president… if they had treated him like a regular citizen, he would have been in prison instead of a gaudy escalator. I’ll believe it when I see it.
I doubt.. those responsible will dare charge trump. They know that trump has had time to amass a large army of gullible followers. Putting trump on trial will create riots the likes of which America has never seen.
At best, putting his close circle of advisors on trial, with the intent to show to the world the worth of trump.. may.. convince enough folk to abandon this shyster.
U.S. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich ruled last week that an effort to interrupt the counting of the electoral votes can be a crime — even if no violence was contemplated. Friedrich’s ruling came in the case against Ronald Sandlin and Nathaniel DeGrave, two men accused of storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. In doing so, she refused to throw out charges that they had “corruptly” obstructed an official proceeding before Congress by “entering and remaining in the United States Capitol without authority and committing an act of civil disorder, and engaging in disorderly and disruptive conduct.”
There are several different categories of members of the evil Trump Cult. The first, obviously, is Traitor Trump himself. Trump has always used people his entire contemptible and damnable (and I mean that literally) life, yet, ironically, he has always been used by other people. It is very easy to use Trump, because of his many severe mental illneses (not to mention that he’s a dumbass). Some other members of the Cult are people who are using Trump to advance their own agendas—and it’s an open question whether they are truly members of the Cult in the first place. Some other members are virulent racists (like Traitor Trump himself). Some other members are criminals (like Traitor Trump himself). The rest of the members of the Trump Cult? People who don’t know nothin’ ‘bout ’nothin’.
Oh, and the Congressional Committee investing the attempted over-throw of our democracy damn well better haul in some of those worthless people at the Fox Propaganda Channel to explain why they were privately begging Traitor Meadows to get Traitor Trump to call off his fellow traitors, while publicly they were downplaying the coup attempt.
Trump has counted on being able to put off accountability until an administration, Like Rudy’s, came into power and he was able to get them to dismiss any wrongdoing. This time too many are against him.
Man who threatened to shoot Pelosi and who brought guns and ammo to D.C. is sentenced to 28 months
As Cleveland G. Meredith Jr., a devoted follower of the QAnon conspiracy theories, drove toward the nation’s capital from Colorado on Jan. 6 with a cache of guns, 2,500 rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines, he repeatedly texted his family and friends ominous sentiments. One message said he was “gonna collect a . . . ton of Traitors heads.”
When a family member responded that President Donald Trump wanted him to go home, Meredith strongly disagreed and said, “he wants HEADS and I’m gonna deliver.” Meredith didn’t arrive in Washington until late that night, but the next day he informed his family that he was considering shooting both D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, D, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., twice texting that he was considering “putting a bullet in her [Pelosi’s] noggin on live TV.”
His family called the FBI. Meredith, 53, was arrested Jan. 7 in a D.C. hotel room and ordered held without bond. On Tuesday, after his sentencing range was increased by a judge for threatening a government official and showing intent to carry out his threats, he was sentenced to 28 months in federal prison.
Capitol rioter writes letter to court blaming ‘tyrannical’ Trump’s ‘lies’ for violence
Defendant admits most others still wouldn’t admit to scope of the violence
“They kept spitting out the false narrative about a stolen election and how it was ‘our duty’ to stand up to tyranny. Little did I realize that they were the tyrannical ones desperate to hold on to power at any cost even by creating the chaos they knew would happen with such rhetoric,” wrote Palmer, according to a PDF published by the news outlet.
Palmer’s sentencing hearing is set for Friday. If a judge were to accept the sentencing recommendation from prosecutors, Palmer would become the defendant to receive the steepest punishment yet for involvement in the riot.
Washington DC’s attorney general filed a civil suit on Tuesday against members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, two far-right organisations, for instigating and planning violence on the day of the Capitol attack.

Now to put him on trial, have him convicted and then executed. Not necessarily in that order.

In this sense, the plain meaning of “corruptly” encompasses both corrupt (improper) means and corrupt (morally debased) purposes. … The Court agrees that § 1512©’s proscription of knowing conduct undertaken with the specific intent to obstruct, impede, or influence the proceeding provides a clear standard to which the defendant can conform his behavior.
In summary, it was criminal behavior. Trump should be worried by this ruling.

[insincere apologies for re-posting this, which I originally wrote when Traitor Trump was the Temporary Occupant]
Donnie the Dotard, child we scorn
Grows fat as season turns to season
We weep that he was ever born
‘Cause he can’t reason
The Dotard loves the tyrant class
With soldiers and their tanks parading
He is, like them, a horse’s ass
And flunks when adults do the grading
The Dotard sighs for rallies not
And always rests, and never labors
And never ever gives a thought
To non-rich neighbors
The Dotard loves the gold he steals
Or gains by bribes, or blackmail sinful
He claps his hands with happy squeals
And drives us all to drink a skinful
The Dotard born? Calamity!
And though we wish he were a fiction
He ruins things from sea to sea
With just his Adderall addiction
