I seem to remember a “thing” some years ago where city dwellers could rent a sledge hammer (and protective gear) and expend some frustrations on a junker.

When I was overseas, the joke was that a hammer was the last addition to a high-end German mechanic’s toolbox.

“I want to be…your sledge hammer…” Better be a really good one for $69.

Emphasis on LAST car tool you’ll ever need… not the FIRST.

When I was in college in the mid 70’s, my fraternity bought an old junker and a couple of sledge hammers and same goggles and charged the students $2 bucks a wallop to beat up the car. We made a lot of money, there is a lot of frustration out there.

We need a car tool – an old fashioned transmission funnel with a flexible hose. Seems they now only make them with a longer spout, not a hose.

We need it for other than car use. We have a humidifier in our bedroom and the bathroom sink spout broke last year – husband can no longer deal with fixing and we don’t want anyone in the house – still works for normal usage, but cannot no longer attach the hose which snapped onto it to fill the humidifier.

We were trying to come up with an alternative and I remembered our reenactment unit used to do an event where the only water available was a smaller than usual (modern) bathroom sink in the 1600-1700s house whose staff had us at the event. I went crazy trying to fill buckets for cooking and then for washing up after. Unit bought one of these hoses and it worked great – pail put on floor, hose pointing at it and it could be filled easily and neatly.

So I suggested we do the same again. Problem is this item now very rare – most transmission funnels are one piece with hard plastic stem that is longer than a normal funnel stem.
