No need. Socialism is already great!

I love roads and schools and hospitals and police and fire stations! Why, the list goes on and on…

Okay< Little Bobby, I think you need to sit down with “My Little Golden Dictionary (A Little Golden Book)” and try reading about all of those “-isms” and what they mean. And then you can draw a red cap with “Make Authoritarianism Great Again” on it, maybe resting on a blond wig.

Trump Disciples like Gorrell HATE widespread economic prosperity, almost as much as they hate democracy.

If only they could realize their dream of a Russian oligarchy, along with a ‘president’ for life.

Let’s do it. We can start by improving Socialist Security and socialized medicine like Medicare. And maybe free vaccines for everyone, too.

Democratic Socialism was the compact between government, business, and citizenry that built all of America’s infrastructure between 1930 and 1980.

Your elementary through high school, fire dept, police dept, library, roads, street lights, water treatment, dams, levees, airports, highway system, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Post Office, garbage, court house, FDA, OSHA, CDC, snow plows, street sweepers, electrical grid – all of that was our tax dollars used by the government to contract businesses to hire Americans to build our country into a powerhouse.

Your American Dream was built on Democratic Socialism. Unfettered capitalism destroyed it and had to be saved through socialist bailouts.

When you use the Internet to post your comics, you’re using Socialism. The Internet is the ultimate socialist platform, owned by nobody and maintained, governed, paid for, and contributed to by corporations, government, and people all over the world.

So unplug your devices, go back to writing letters and mailing them in. Oh wait, that socialism. How about faxing it in, er wait, that infrastructure is also socialism.

I guess you just need to, hmmm. Can’t drive anywhere on those socialist streets, have anything to eat or drink that wasn’t inspected by the socialist FDA. Or use anything electric by the socialist electrical grids.

I guess you’re just screwed. maybe go live in a cave someplace and eat what you’ve hunted on your own.

Amen! You got it right at last, Gorrell!

American socialist type policies go back to before the Constitution, let us proudly OWN our American socialist heritage.

We make it work! Public schools, libraries, roads, utilities, parks, First Responders, and a long list of others. ALL American socialist type programs, ALL successful.

Too long have cowardly capitalists demonized American socialism. We are not trying to replace the government, we are trying to make sure that it follows the Constitutional mandate of “We, the People”.

American socialism is how we “Provide for the General Welfare, for the Good of our Posterity” to paraphrase the Constitution.

We need capitalism, I agree. But we also need socialist type programs and policies. We need a balance. Not one or the other.

    God Bless America.

Forty years of Reaganism is due for a curtain call. And one thing that needs to end is the conservatives’ arrogation of Christian values. I attended Catholic Mass yesterday. The first reading was Acts 4:32-35:

.The whole community of believers was one in heart and mind. No one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but rather they shared all things in common. With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, for all of them were living in an exceptional time of grace.

There was no needy person among them, for those who owned land or houses, sold them and brought the proceeds of the sale. And they laid it at the feet of the apostles who distributed it according to each one’s need.*************************.

Now I have to admit, this is a bit much to swallow in 2021. But just a little bit of that would be a lot better than what we’re doing right now.

Gorrell, I think pretty much everyone here has addressed your failure to comprehend what socialism is. But allow me a ‘dejavu repeat’. Your position, particularly in your complete and total loyalty to tRump, is ’FASCISM’ . Take the advice and look up both ‘socialism’ and ‘fascism’. Our Founders included socialism in our new government, and did everything possible to keep out what would eventually be called ‘fascism’.

Well, Republicans need to go back to the 1930s. No Socialist programs at all. No government help for citizens. Herbert Hoover® didn’t believe it was the government’s responsibility to provide any sort of relief or help to citizens. People starved to death. When I was a boy, older people after they were unable to work just died unless they had family or someone took them in.Same for disabled people. Social Security was passed with almost no Republican support. Hospitals were cash up front or insurance only. I was in the 6th grade in 1951. My friend got permission for us to dump the garbage out of the classrooms after lunch. We gathered the partially eaten food other kids had thrown away. He took it to his sister who divided it out to their brothers and sisters. They may not have food until the next day.

Socialism was ALWAYS great! Far and away a better system than Capitalism, which was never all that great. And here for those who will scream ‘Communist, Communist!’, is the definition of the two opposing system. Socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Now, having read the definitions, tell me which sounds better to you?

Social Security, Medicare (consistently rated the best health insurance), Interstate Highway System, Veteran’s Administration health system (consistently rated the best medical provider by its clients), public university system and financial aid system, public roads, local police departments, local fire departments, local sanitation departments, local sewer systems and drinking water treatment plants (btw, my local water was excellent until a for-profit company was allowed to take over the system), etc…

Yup, socialism can be great, but we need to work to make it even better.
