In my case, it wasn’t a disorder, it was a concious decison. I had no desire to “move up” into the ranks of management where the money is better and so is the pain and boredom. I am quite content to do what I love as I have been doing for the last 40+ years.

I learned in the Army that the guys with the shiny brass bits in their shoulders and hats made better targets than those of us with stripes on our sleeves.

I have never been motivated by money, fame, praise, or power. I have danced to the tune of my own piper for 76 years, and ain’t about to change now!

I may not have a lot to show for my life, materially, but I sure have had a good time, and have been able to do things and go places that others only dreamed of.

Life has been – and continues to be – a fantastic adventure!

I’ve wondered if it’s a “youngest child” thing. It’s all been done & said, so keep your head down, do some of the dirty work no one wants, & try to be mildly amusing now & then so you don’t get put out with the trash.

To the grocery guy who pulled his comment….Congratulations. That is something I always thought I should do, but I went into IT instead.

They have ruined many good workers and their careers by chaining them to a desk to count beans and making them visible during a layoff cycle.
