And now you’re giving a nice set of furniture, shelter, and warmth through the next winter. With the acorns you gave me, my children and grandchildren will do the same with your children and grandchildren.
I met mine in the mid-’50s. We all enjoyed her apples, but then we moved away. Decades later, I planted 3 trees, which the bugs found and I began a spraying routine and learned to use tricks and lowest LC50 insecticides. We were given many wheelbarrows full of fruit each fall, which my dear wife (RIP) canned. We were still enjoying apple sauce over a decade after the trees were gone, as I did in her memory.

Not to be a nitpicker, but wasn’t this the plot of the Giving Tree, not it’s sequel?

The sequel of the giving tree was the book 2 of Lord of the Rings when the Ents go to war and Fangorn Forest was on the march.
