I generally enjoy this strip, but this story has been very anticlimactic. Just kind of abrupt end, isn’t it? Feels like it started to go somewhere then “oh, I called Tracy, he was harassing me,” the end. Why immediately pivot to bailing out Shaky just for this? Nothing new was added to his or Edison’s whole arc from the previous story.
All that love-tap of his did was to make Tracy angry. And petty criminals wouldn’t like Tracy when he’s angry, as we all know.
No sign of Sam today, though. Hope he wasn’t seriously injured by the dumb felon. Charges against the Dumb Felon might now include battery on Fortuna, assault on Sam and Tracy, fleeing to avoid arrest, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon (the thrown buckle), battery on Tracy, maybe attempted murder of Sam; all while out on bail—Shaky Mk.2 is going to be spending a long, long time behind bars….
Hopefully Shaky was really just an expendable villain whose main role was to introduce Edison Lighthouse to us. I think she is potentially a whole lot more interesting.
Let’s see now. Stalking (Fortuna lies to get that one to stick,) unlawful possession, and, use, of a firearm, evading police to escape lawful arrest, assault on a police officer in the performance of his duties, criminal damage to property, theft. These are a few of the favorite things the Tracy County State’s Attorney’s office will be charging Shaky v2 this time. And, I would be surprised, if the desk SA who initially approves arrests, and, comes with the charges, is (figuratively) rubbing his hands, in anticipation of what else he can charge Shaky v2 with. (All the better to get plea bargains with. The less time the SA’s office has to actually spend in trail the better.)
Now, this is the perfect use of a Sunday page! Magnificent artwork by Joe Staton. Great action and interesting angles of view. The whole page tells a story and nary a talking head in sight. Outstanding!
Never shoot at – or punch – a cop on TV or in the comics; their aim or other forms of response is always better than yours. (And you really need to get a handle on your temper, Shaky.)
I am Offended!! Just because the BG hit you that doesn’t give you the right to strike back! He should have tried to be more understanding and find out the cause of Shakey’s feelings. We should have defunded Tracy and sent in a counselor to de-arm Shakey and de-escalate the situation. Maybe they should do like Chop/Chax/ Whatever they call themselves and let Shakey and friends have a section of the city so they can secede from the union and do as they please. Oh wait, they would set up their own armed force like ICE to protect their borders and arm people to protect the people of the nation of Shakey! That Tracy must be one of those old fashioned Constitutionalists that cling to the law. We need to get rid of police like Tracy who hit bad guys. (Oooppps, didn’t mean to be offensive and call Shakey a bad guy. He is just having issues we don’t know or understand.)
I seriously doubt that those legitimate organizations (as opposed to the scammers posing as them) do business that way. (Nor do they do it over the phone.)
2-JAY: HA! I just took out two armed detectives with a belt buckle and a belt – TO THE CHOPS! And while common sense would dictate that I stop talking to myself and run to freedom, I’m going to stick around and trade blows with Tracy – just to prove I don’t only beat up women.
3-DT: See these fingers, see this thumb? See this fist? You better run!
4-JAY: That’s an old one Tra…OUCH! Dang! I can usually slip a punch better than a young Ali thanks to my constantly shaking head! UHHHhhhhhh….. lights out
5-DT: I call this fight the “SLUMBER IN THE LUMBER”.
Dress like a bumblebee,
As upright as a tree,
I’m changing my name to Mohammad Tra-cee.
SAM: Good job Dick! I was, ummm, making sure his girlfriend didn’t sneak up behind us. Yeah. That’s what I was doing. Uh, I’m going to go and start the paper work for my purple heart….

A shaky end without a friend. His bail shall be revoked
A classless clown of foul renown. Left “Breathless” struck and choked.
Threw a punch. I have a hunch there shall be time to ponder
Locked in a cage to fret and rage his mind is sure to wander
To happy times with Edison. Her touch so sorely missed
He fights back tears and mounting fears no more shall she be kissed
By this abuser. Such a loser. The pretty bird has flown
Points her feet away from him. Leaves for the great unknown.

Well, we get it. Shaky is one mean dude.
Still, it seems the only crime in this story
Was the story.

Nice George Mcfly fist shot by Tracy, he knocked all the stuffing out of Shaky’s right hand.
Must be windy out, Dicks hat certainly traveled a great distance!

Enough of this jerk so flaky
If he’s put in jail
He’s bound to make bail
He’s all the team has given us lately"

I really like today’s strip. I would’ve put in a dark red, perhaps not blood red, behind Shaky to show his rage. But still a great opener.
