Begs the question, DO kids use their imagination to play anymore or is all playing with electronic devices these days? ;/

I doubt they’ll take imaginary photos, Calvin.

He sometimes imagines his mom as a dinosaur so maybe he has a bunch of pictures of his mom’s butt.

Now where did I see that Fotomat…oh, yeah – back in the 1900s. Maybe Calvin can time travel back to then.

I remember when one of the rules for aspiring photographers was “burn a lot of film”. It’s a LOT cheaper, faster and easier to do the modern equivalent… but I’m going to guess that the learning curve is a little flatter: Takes longer to become really good at self-editing when there’s so little downside to not getting everything just right.

If he just brought back some Jurassic plants, Mom would have a garden that’s the envy of the entire neighborhood.

I had a pizza shop located next door to a combination VHS movie rentals & 1-hr film development. They obviously had an eye for trends.

Dinosaurs or not, I think Calvin should have been on the cover of TIME Magazine.

I wonder what comes back in the way of pictures? Probably a lot of photos of Hobbes and corn chips. Maybe a Magpie or two.

seriously, kids these days don’t appreciate how amazing it is you can take thousands of pictures on a whim. Back in the day EVERY PHOTO cost something, and you only got one shot, since you wouldn’t see it until days or even weeks after you took it.

Mom graciously pretending she believes his story ends up costing her money. Is there a word for the opposite of karma?

I like how Mom just plays along with Calvin.

Maybe we’ve lost something by having photos so common, so trivial. We’re deluged in images. In the days of box cameras and black-and-white photos, a photo was something to look at closely, to treasure, to take out and trigger a memory. Hey, you kids get off my lawn!

Even though it is totally fake, it’s sweet that his mom humored him and paid out of her pocket, to have the photos developed.
