What we have here is hyperpolysyllabisesquipedalianism.

Hopefully no one here suffers from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.

Prototaxites walks into a bar, orders a beer.

Bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve mysterious Silurian/Devonian organisms here.”

Prototaxites says, “Why not? I’m a fungi!”

Bartender says, “Maybe, maybe not. Recent research suggests algal components in your structure which would make you a symbiont, possibly a lichen.”

Termite says, “Hey! Is the bar tender?”

I thought for sure “antidisestablishmentarianism” was longer. But that word has it beat by one letter! And when you’re saying something happened between X and Y number of years ago, aren’t you supposed to say the lesser number first? I don’t know if that’s a rule, but it doesn’t sound right the other way.

What if prototaxites as fungi were not really tall, but were visually hallucinogenic to fool predators.

Ergo, Bud set the first world record for hanging out the side of a car. Does he still hold it?

Was that cross country drive so the guy driving could watch the Wright Brothers plane? I remember reading a biography about them and it mentioned someone drove across several states to witness their flying machine, which in itself was an accomplishment at the time since cars were still considered horseless carriages.

The road trip story as explained in this article is really quite entertaining (and proof of some people’s determination!) https://www.history.com/news/the-first-great-american-road-trip
