The GoComics colorist imposed their own modesty on Ms Dyer: there is no sleeve ending in the b&w version like has been suggested here for her blue shirt. Some might prefer to think she “absentmindedly” forgot to complete her wardrobe; admit it, you know who you are! I’m taking a more classic film-noir approach though. The double lines at her wrists are not bracelets, they’re the sleeve ends of a skintight sweater that was de rigueur fashion for femme fatales in the ‘40s & ‘50s. Haven’t followed the comments too closely on this storyline, but while I’m sure someone’s brought up the Warren Beatty movie, this is the first piece that really has me thinking of Madonna’s version of this character.
The epithet “tramp” comes to mind. Does Fortuna really think hard-boiled Detective Tracy is such a pushover?! Her Method will be for naught in this instance. Indeed, she may learn more from failure than she had hoped to win….
