I usually have to threaten my bored kids with cleaning the bathroom before they suddenly find something to do, but I guess being with Jason is scarier than toilet bowl duties.
My 15-year-old daughter read the first half of “The Fellowship Of the Rings” in 2 days (she just started; and no, she hasn’t seen the movie) AND is teacher herself crochet.
It’s probably driving Jason crazy that he’s in the middle of an 11-year cycle between being able to make Star Wars Day jokes (the last Sunday 5/4 was in 2014; the next one is in 2025)
I pity all those people who have never learned the joy of reading. I’ve been trying to tempt a very bored Crazy Cat Cousin in to cat mysteries, but no luck. She won’t even read “Breaking Cat News” and “Ten Cats” here, and I know she’d love them.
This comic is SO unrelatable. I can’t imagine not wanting to read or knit! (I admit, I also enjoy a good reorganization project, but I can understand not wanting to at a particular time.)
Knitting is creative, gratifying, fun, a means of sharing love with others—and it stays done. Unless you don’t like how it came out, in which case you just rip it out and do it differently based on what you’ve learned from the first time. You get total do-overs.
SF author Travis Taylor had a hyperactive {civilian} genius character who was getting bored cooped up for months on a spaceship. In order to convey to the ship’s Regular Navy Captain just how bad not letting her roam freely and find things to do could be, the officer in charge of the Science Section said “Imagine a ferret on crack.”

What activity was Paige having in mind if Andy didn’t offer those suggestions? Shopping at the mall?

This reminds me of a common joke (around here):
Harold found a magic lamp and rubbed it.
Harold: “Build me a bridge to Hawaii from the California”
Genie: “Sorry, that’s really too much.”
Harold: “Okay. Make Trump a good President.”
…
Genie: “So. How many lanes wide do you want that bridge to be?”

Two for one opportunity here: knit Jason a straitjacket.

At least she can find a pearl or two in all of this when she knits one.

I would not want to hang out with Jason either. He makes Calvin look normal.

I just recently read that flour is hard to find on the grocery shelves. Not for lack of wheat, but more people are baking and baking more often.

Gads, why did three commenters independently bring Trump into this? There is no connection whatsoever.

I’m a total hobbyist, I make custom toys and action figures for people. With the lockdown my production has more than doubled.
