You didn’t have to start with the Boston Pops’ Sousa concert, Arlo.

I can identify, whenever I turn the surround on all I hear is yelling “It’s to loud, turn it down”. So I have an expensive end table with matching speakers and a great audio system to drive them.

It seems like a lot of content on TV these days has BOOM BOOM in it. I discovered that after I got my own 5.1 system.

Luckily this is a PG comic strip, no scene like in the Howard Stern movie.

I would rush to buy an amplifier with compression; one that reproduces faithfully up to a limit and then does not allow anything to be louder than that. Movies are made for theaters and nobody here wants pandemonium in the living room.

This is at least sort of a family kind of place, so I shan’t go into the details, but one of the first things I learned as a sound reinforcement engineer was to push the bass just a hair more than was ideal for balanced sound; the guys in the audience left alone less often, and so came back more often, and thus kept us getting hired.

Impressive at the end of 1812, especially when you don’t know your friend has a huge woofer in his coffee table.

With the timing, I thought was a super whoopee cushion.

I’m partial to the Ride of the Valkyrie.

We have a new cinema nearby. It has those full recliner seats and restaurant service while you watch the movie. Anyway, they built some kind of subwoofer into the seat itself, which now shakes. It was interesting watching the latest Star Wars flick there.

About 5 years ago I bought my wife a new car. The dealership was about 200 miles away and we were heading home down I25 while checking out the features. She got the radio synced with my phone and we put on some good music. We both felt a deep base, looked at each other and simultaneously exclaimed, “We have a f@#$^&% subwoofer!”

This is funny – this was exactly our dog’s reaction!

He’s not fooling me; he put a vibrator under her cushion…
