Cummings represents that district on a national, not a local, level. Any money he would generate for it would be federal funds or what some would call “pork barrel”. Obviously it is done but call it what it is.

Whatever local issues Baltimore has is dealt with at the state and city level and is the primary responsibility of the governor, mayor, alderman, state senators, etc. Did anyone tell him that the governor of MD is a GOP’er too?

The Resident continually shows that he has no clue how government works.

    - @Ronbeaux_Blues

Robert Ariail apparently has that same problem in regards government division of labor

Riiight. Don’t look at that corruption that’s destroying the nation. Just look at your own district.

While the republicans collude to steal everything that isn’t nailed down.

Ariail clearly doesn’t understand the different responsibilities of the three layers (federal, state, local) of government. The federal, i.e., the Capo-in-Chief, the GOP Leadershit, and their sycophants and thugs, are responsible for the so-called drug problem and the so-called poverty problem. They’re also responsible for frustrating Democratic Congressional legislators’ efforts to remedy those problems. As for the so-called crime problem, Congress has no authority to deal with local crime and the larger, pervasive national-crimes problems again are in the Capo-in-Chief’s and the GOP Leadershit’s ambit. Those corrupters of our national heritage love to point fingers of blame at the Democratic legislators whom they repeatedly frustrate whenever they attempt to offer constructive solutions to the problems.Given Ariail’s capricious political stands, it’s not unreasonable to wonder if he’s a practicing alcoholic or other substance abuser.

And we all know that these conditions don’t exist in cities run by ’Con mayors, Mr. Ariail. How about the richest nation in the world actually making a real committment to ending these issues instead of spending hundreds of billions of dollars annually on the military?

Because it is more important to give trillion dollar tax breaks to the 1% than to actually do something to fix the problems in the country.

There is a lot of blight in urban America cities. Is it a political problem or a societal one? Or a cultural issue? I’m not convinced that either party has the solution. But, remember Lyndon Johnson? He tried. Now all we have are two parties pointing fingers at each other. And, yes, McConnell is responsible for being one of the biggest obstacles to progress in contemporary America. Rarely has there been a majority leader so clearly working for special interests, so fiendishly clever in carrying out the wishes of his money masters. Disgusting man.

25.1 million poor people lived in red districts compared with 22.7 million in blue districts. House districts with highest percentage of drug ODs are GOP. FBI Crime Rankings show higher crime rate in Democratic districts. [Brookings 3 Nov 16. ]

The Oversight Committee revealed Trump’s deal to lift sanctions on Russia and the deal with Saudi Arabia giving them our Nuclear Technology.

Instead of dealing with a rat problem in a US city, he’s uncovering the rats in the White House.

Why are you so blind to the fact that Demorats or Repugnents are two wings of the same dirty, lying, greedy bird. You can find plenty of fault with both sides so lets make sure we don’t get trapped in an echo chamber and look at the whole picture.

Hey, Robert Ariall, remind me, again, how many Billions are being wasted on trying to keep out brown people at our southern border? Looks to me that our POTUS, and the GOP in general, thinks spending billions on building a wall, and more millions on locking people up, especially children, in cages is more important then helping disadvantaged Citizen at home.

OK, the easy parts are finding the problems and assigning blame. Now, how about some bipartisan cooperation and compromise to solve those problems … or do politicians believe that’s not their job?

It’s not their fault that trump is an existential threat to the republic. It is their responsibility to address that threat. They have advanced significant legislation to address those other problems, only to be stymied by Republican intransigence.

Note that Mr. Ariail’s ‘garbage bags’ are marked with legislation Bob suggests that the Democrats SHOULD be advancing’ .

If Mr. Ariail would care to examine the over 100 bills passed by the House of Representatives and are now “moldering” on Senator “Moscow Mitch’s” desk, he would discover an amazing number of “oversight” bills addressing Bob’s concerns.

It’s Republican Senators that have no stomach for addressing the various national concerns pointed out by Mr. Ariail, because, to “address” them would put them into direct conflict with the head of what’s left of what was once the Republican party

Baltimore is a mess. Some blame the local government some blame the People that live there but some blame must be shared by the owners of the Squalid ( Read Rat Infested) tenements.

Hmmm… i wonder who that could be. Who could be complicit in Baltimore’s problems?

Jarred? Kushner Company owns s 9,000 low income apartments in Baltimore.

Red lining, predatory lending, lack of funding for infrastructure and education, or anything else that helps anyone who isn’t a white male. Since the orange moron wants to blame Elijah Cummings, I’d like to point out that Kushner is a slum lord with 8,000 units around Baltimore. And his properties have lots of issues with vermin and mold. And Trump’s properties have problems with infestation. Mar A Lago had 170+ health violations in the last three years. What’s that saying about glass houses?

Do you think it’s a coincidence that he went after a city that is majority African American? Because Cummings’ district includes a lot more than just Baltimore. Do you think it wasn’t racist to say that human beings don’t want to live there? He attacks people of color differently. Yeah, he has a nasty nickname for Adam Schiff, but he hasn’t attacked any white person as viciously as this attack on Cummings.

Blue city / state taxes are not longer federally tax-deductible. So people that planned on that tax deduction because they are wiling to pay for local schools got screwed by 2017 tax cuts.

If you want to look at cesspools, let’s look at Mississippi, Alabama, and the other states with opioid crisis and poor education.

Drugs: This admin has failed to do anything useful, instead concentrating on the useless “wall” and trying to prosecute users and dealers below the level of the Big Pharma folk who push their opioids.

Poverty: This admin seems to be intent on plans to further increase poverty by taking away various support systems, not to mention moving money out of the hands of the middle class and into those of the robber barons via taxes, etc.

Crime etc: This admin is trying to increase the number of criminals since their good buddies are now making money from incarcerating folks.
