In the first few Summer Olympics, the pole vault was combined with ocean-rowing into a single event. It was dropped when several world-class (but non-swimming) vaulters drowned.
According to every report/ the pole vault’s a difficult sport/ but when you’re coming down/ with a chance that you’ll drown/ perhaps it IS wise to abort.
Ok guys, we’re now two for two. Yesterday we thought that Jill the reaper was a boy, and now we thought that these three dudes were pulling the boat out of the water when they are actually launching it. I think one of us should volunteer to do some research before we post. This is the internet, after all. People expect it to be ACCURATE.
