Can’t blame him; really- In the ‘predator/prey’ scheme of things mice don’t have a lot of choices beyond ‘run and hide’” “Tre-C hung her head; ‘Now I feel really bad about that practical joke I played on him when we met.” “No sense beating yourself up, Kitten, we need to find him now. You can apologize after that, if need be.’ Megan trotted over to where Tre-C was standing; “You’re right- Hector’s scent is stronger here at the back door.” Tre-C chimed in; “Can we talk to the missus?” “Luisa? No- she’d be deep in the wall. She doesn’t come out by herself since Hector and I made our arrangement I’ll bet she’s worried sick, poor little thing.” ============= Tre-C was listening to Megan, but she was also looking at the back wall, sizing up the room’s layout. There was an alcove the trash cans were stored in- Jimmy liked to be able to just walk certain trash out of the kitchen straight to the bins- depending on the type of refuse it was. From there, Jimmy could just roll open the big back door and slide the cans outside for pickup on the regular day. “The regular day…” Megan’s thought was going the right direction, but it was interrupted by Tre-C; “Meg, come here.. How many of these cans are there supposed to be? And what’s this stuff on the floor? It smells like old cheese…”
A cat can warm you when cold, purr you to sleep when you can’t sleep, snuggle so you know you are safe, will not judge you(except when the food dish is not filled fast enough), and give unconditional love when you need a great deal of sympathy and comforting.
Lupin and my cat definitely share an attitude towards sewing! She has pulled pins out of the fabric and tried to eat them, she has tried to eat pins directly out of the pincushion, she charges at the scissors while I’m cutting fabric, she has tried to attack the sewing machine needle as it goes up and down, the list goes on…
When this particular broadcast ran on the original site a few years back, I shared a story that this exact thing had really happened to a friend of mine’s cat. In a quick moment between stitches, she left a threaded needle out (how many of us sewers and embroiderers have done this? Guilty! So many, many times before hearing her story). Her excellently good kitty slurped it up, got very sick, and if I remember right it was not exactly obvious immediately what had happened (though thank goodness, the cat did survive after an emergency trip to the vet). I never would have realized this could happen until she went through it! How scary!! So, while Lupin is innocent in how he sees it—this is why the Woman is locking up those needles! She should have locked up the thread, too. Even a little bit of thread for a cat can cause a lot of trouble. Throughout the comic the People are shown keeping thread from Lupin (though in our house it is actually stoic Elvis who is our problem when it comes to stuff like this! In the comic, Lupin made more sense) and it’s always important to be cautious of thread, ribbon, floss, string, and such. Kitties may like to live dangerously, but keep them reporting on how you lock up those needles and thread!
Can a blanket love? Oh I don’t know Elvis, I’ve got a cuddly blue fleece blanket that has gotten me through some very dark, lonely, cold nights and days when I had no one else. No, a blanket can’t love like a cat nestled on top of one’s chest or in one’s lap can, but it can sure bring a lot of comfort. ;-)
I love how The Woman’s expression evolves (or de-volves?) throughout the comic. Big smile for Pucky; not so much for Elvis; then a little stern; and finally exasperation. Another home run Georgia!
Not related to the topic but I just now sneezed. I’ll confess I have a very loud sneeze. My cat, Livy, leapt off the chair and ran for her life to the bedroom. She is now under the bed and won’t come out!
In the last panel, I always think that Elvis looks like a rock star belting out his greatest hit at a jam-packed outdoor festival!! (I’m holding up my lit cigarette lighter)

I’m praying that you find a counselor that you can feel comfortable with so you can start working on these issues that the BCN reports have surfaced. Even if you are starting to feel better, please, please, please find a professional to talk to. The issues will resurface again and again until you deal with them! I wish I had dealt with mine when I had the money to do it, but now still dealing with the same issues of 20+ yrs and I have no money to get help.

The rotary cutter is my biggest source of sewing room anxiety. I lock the cats out of the room when I’m cutting. Thankfully, they haven’t shown an interest in playing with the serger thread or other cat-like activities.
Shaunmunn, you do so much listening and counseling to all of us. I wish I knew how to help you. I do know that a professional counselor can work wonders for even a short time. I don’t think you live close enough to me to use mine (southern US.) Many prayers for healing.
Dear, sweet Elvis. I had a tortie who smacked at everyone in the family except for my nephew; when he was a baby, she would jump into his cradle and nap beside him, or just lie there and watch him sleep. She loved him completely.

Cats are soooooo much help when you’re trying to sew. Every quilt I’ve made has cat hair lovingly sewn into it. As do all the socks I’ve knitted, too.
