Sarah Huckabee (Goebbels) Sanders was judged, not by the color of her skin, but by the content of her character.

The Red Hen restaurant wants to ensure a safe dining experience without having to be bothered by bigots or professional liars.

In every state in the United States (because of various federal civil rights laws), it is illegal to discriminate in commerce based on such intrinsic qualities as race, ethnicity, gender or disability. In 22 states it is also illegal to discriminate based on orientation (and no, the Supreme Court did not overrule that, only clarified that it only applies to standard products and services, not customized artistic creations and must be applied without bias).

There is no state in the United States where being a professional liar or a bigot is a protected class.

Most restaurants have signs posted that say we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was politely asked to leave AS AN INDIVIDUAL (meaning it wasn’t a blanket rejection, as #45 and his Trumpanistas claim). She supports her father, who DOES support blanket rejection of LGBTQ people — he leapt to the defense of the clerk who refused to let gay people get their marriage licenses, remember. The two are NOT comparable. She was served her appetizers, asked to leave, and not asked to pay. The restaurant owner felt she owed that to her staff members.

Huckabee Sanders and Trump promptly used the event to claim prejudice because she was a Trump supporter, and implied that this restaurant would ban all Trump supporters. This is not true, but in what way do they have a leg to stand on? They tried to ban REFUGEES and ASYLUM-SEEKERS, including infants and toddlers, because they “might” become terrorists one day. And they try to complain about being politely asked to eat somewhere else?

One writer in the New Yorker (apologies for not digging up the name) had an excellent point here. He said one can claim that it is civility to allow someone you disagree with to eat with you. But this administration’s whole point is to blow up civility. From day one, Trump has chosen to reject any form of civility – he insults his opponents, he lies about them, he praises dictators, he encourages people to hit someone he doesn’t like, he wants people who disagree with him or call him out on his lies to be shut down or declared traitors, he rejects the rule of law – why SHOULD we allow him to take advantage of the rules of civility as he already has?

This writer said, essentially, one does not let someone spit in the meal, and then let them insist they can sit at the table.

Of course the low-watt Trumpanistas are now THREATENING all “Red Hen” restaurants in the country, NOT REALIZING that the one that showed extreme good taste by tossing Jabba the Hucksterbeast out is NOT, repeat NOT a part of the chain that happens to have the same name! Of course, they are TOO STUPID to know that…

Trump supporters, even just the guy wearing the MAGA hat, must wonder what is going to be on that plate other than what he ordered when they hear the kitchen staff speaking any language other than English. Maybe we can get rid of some of them by just starving them to death.

Remember: the outrage is part of the plan. They’re pretending to have the moral high ground by being offended by the resistance to their outrageous actions. Act outraged enough and any civil person will step back to consider that maybe they were in the wrong. That’s when they take a step forward and repeat the cycle.

They’re not really hurt or offended; it’s just an act to put you back on your heels.

Ah, World War Two. We didn’t lose our temper! We were always civil to the Germans, and in the end, they saw the light, and then we all got together and made Volkswagens.

    Good times. Civil times.

Once in the 1930s they say that the four leading lights of the Nazi Party went out for dinner together, but none of them was recognized.

Goering wasn’t wearing a uniform.Goebbels kept his mouth shut.

There is no question that Sanders lies to the American public for a living—and is paid to do it by the American public. (Your tax dollars at work!) But people lowering themselves to the level of Trump and his rabid followers is wrong. Consider this, from pundit Melinda Henneberger:

“Why anyone would think you defeat Donald Trump by behaving like Donald Trump is a puzzlement to me, but othering and incitement are now passionately defended on the left as well as right. That’s showing him. What’s no mystery at all is the visceral appeal of shunning and shaming: When I heard that Sarah Huckabee Sanders had been asked to leave a restaurant, part of me thought well, Madam, maybe if you didn’t lie for a living, on behalf of baby snatchers, you could have gotten past the cheese plate and stayed for the main course. The problem with that impulse is that it’s wrong. No good ever came of mirroring behavior we hate, and this won’t be the first time. If we go on like this, with billboards that invite liberals to keep on driving and never come back, and restaurants that only serve the right-minded, we’ll be setting up segregated lunch counters of another kind. And whatever follows us down that road won’t be reconciliation; this is the sort of divide that wars are fought over.”

I disagree with most of the comments here. To my mind, a public accommodation should accommodate the public. ALL of the public (as long as they’re not being disruptive).

Racists should serve black people at their lunch counters.

Pharmacists should dispense abortifacients to customers with a prescription.

Bakers should supply wedding cakes to gay couples.

Liberals should provide chicken dinners to fascists.

“We will bury you!” (Russian: «Мы вас похороним!») Nikita Khruschchev, November 18, 1956. Dear Mr. Trump, George W. Bush has a “Mission Accomplished!” banner he would like to send you to present to Mr. Putin. Any tariffs will, of course, be waived.

What are you talking about Nazi Card?

You are the one who is always calling others names, sad indeed this fall of civility engendered by the right wing fascists who don’t give a hoot for human rights.
