Suffering is pointless without sympathy — and maybe a chocolate chip cookie.

This reminds me of an AFV video, except the kid was a toddler.

Not much point in wailing if you don’t have an audience.

If a Calvin skins his knee and there’s no one to see it, does it count as a boo-boo?

I remember doing that when I was little. I knew if I didn’t kick up a fuss and care about it, neither would anyone else.

I was sitting in the livingroom and my niece hit her head, it wasn’t anything and I ignored her and she waited till other people came in the room to cry. I laughed inwardly.

That’s what you call creating an audience.

On of our daughters fell and hurt herself. My mum heard her crying, picked her up and brought her inside to me. “I banged my knee. Did you hear me?”

Sympathy for the little devil. Could be a title for a song… maybe not.

My son demands a bandage for the slightest red mark. I’d hate to see what happens if he actually bleeds more than a few drops. I just boo hoo hoo for him and give him a dollar store bandage. We save the name brands for real wounds.

Both my kids did this. They were amazingly tough if they thought themselves unobserved!

My dad was a medic, learned early to keep it to myself if I didn’t want everything wrapped and immobilized like a mummy. Dad smart cookie!

Yeah, my daughter was like that. Especially if it was a school day. I always had the magic cure “Well, maybe we should go to the Emergency Room. One shot and you’ll be all better”. Worked every time.

It’s not just kids. Some friends took their dog to the vet because she was lame and they were having to carry her up and down stairs. The vet asked which leg was the problem and they realized they didn’t know as the dog had been switching legs for lameness! The vet’s cure was for them to quit carrying her!

Reminds me of a thing Gerald McBoing Boing did. Hurt his finger, came to where his father was shaving, and let out the full blast of a bomb explosion. Dad survived but barely.
