Calvin STILL got this wrong. The cerebellum is responsible for regulating voluntary movements, such as balance and even speech. What he SHOULD have answered is “cerebrum”. The cerebrum is the seat of reason, planning, memory, and sensory integration. All conscious thought originates in the cerebrum.

Well, that shocking reaction means that he was indeed listening, unless she yelled. I would’ve been like “… Sorry, did you say something?”

Teachers have radar so they can single out the students who don’t know the answer.

Gotta remember that one…

What Calvin really wants to say: Miss Wormwood, weren’t you a teacher when the Battle of Lexington took place?

And for using the word “cerebellum” in a sentence, you get promoted a grade.

It looks like fusion of his cerebellum was very painful in panel 3.

Subtle, but very well done. The Battle of Lexington was sparked by the government’s attempt to confiscate privately owned guns…which touched off the American Revolution.

American Revolution in first grade?

Not exactly, Holden Awn. The British were searching for an arsenal of weapons and supplies obtained by the recently organized (and outlawed) Massachusetts Bay Colony Militia. The individual militiamen already owned their own weapons. The arsenal was to provide weapons for the unarmed citizenry they hoped to recruit.

Why is there an unsolved math problem on the board during a history lesson?

One of these days, I’m going to have to set up a vacation that takes me to the battle sites and historical sites of the Revolutionary War.
