My 14-year-old daughter is pretty tough, emotionally. It takes a lot for her to get emotional enough to cry. The death of Carrie Fisher was the closest I’d seen her to crying in a long time.

yes, 2016 was rough but i really anticipate 2017 being a lot worse. personally might be ok — but with trump as president, i anticipate the news sounding like bizzaro world and him and the gop destroying this country and globe.

Carrie Fisher was my 1st movie crush – her death is still hitting me pretty hard. When I saw the MSN slide about Debbie Reynolds, I swore out loud in shock.

That bit about Father Mulcahy hits hard – I thought the Carrie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds 2 for 1 was 2016’s last gasp.

On the other hand, 2017 might just start off with Charles Manson kicking the bucket. A year where all the bad guys die off would be great!

I was 10 when Princess Leia became a heroine to me. You could keep wonder woman and charlies angels. Give me a badass princess who could blast her away the enemies. She had to inspire others like Lara Croft. Carrie was the first.
