    Childhood Is A Treasure

(My four-year-old daughter is at a park, where she sees a boy come into the area she’s playing in. It is the first kid to come around this area of the park, so she’s happy.)

Daughter: “Hi, my name is [Daughter]. What is your name?”

Boy: overly excited and throws his arms up in the air “I’m [Boy]. I can’t find the… BURIED… treasure!”

    Daughter: “We can find it!”

(And thus began thirty minutes of running everywhere looking for it.)

Katy, should realize by now that her father naturally does strange things.

Maybe he’s hoping to find something. I recently saw a story on cable about two boys who were playing outside their Los Angeles home in February 1978, digging in the yard, when one of the boys struck something metallic. They alerted two passing sheriff’s deputies, who had a team investigate the object which proved to be a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS which had been stolen and buried in that yard.

Looks about the right size for a hope chest. Can’t wait to see how they explain the very sheer nightie.

I believe that the first time anything was described as being “the size of a Buick” was in the film Annie Hall:

Honey, there’s a spider in your bathroom the size of a Buick.

Adam’s next book? “One dreary Spring day, while awaiting the coming bounty of Summer, I, bored and undirected, strayed into our attic and found, in a previously unknown abscess, the most curious of things.”

Either that or he’d just dug a hole into the neighbours attic and taken their stuff

Next frame Laura says; “Get out of here with that …”

Regretfully I can no longer post links to the 1950 HITS The Thing – Phil Harris.

Years ago we bought an older house in San Angelo, TX (a beautiful town). It had been empty awhile and some items had been left in the attic. We still have these 1950’s style Christmas ornaments that go up every year.

He also loves to get itchy skin and eyes from messing with fiberglass insulation. Smart people (including professionals) wear masks, so as not to get cancer.
