   I used to live in Radlett, a little village just a bit north of London. We had lots of sunlight! Actually, summer was very pleasant, what with all of the bar-b-ques at the aero club and such. Come to think of it, I remember very little rain, and throughout most of the summer, very few clouds.

   It’s much nicer than here in the Ozarks, where summer is excessively muggy. Despite stereotypes and what one might expect from an island, it was actually a dry heat. Most of the rain and clouds comes during the winter.

   It makes it more tender. “Aging” is a fancy term for controlled decaying. The muscular structure breaks down, making the meat easier to cut and chew. A hand tenderizer does the same thing more quickly, and putting a bit of salt into the rub will also help, but aging a steak, though a slower process, actually creates more flavor along with more tenderness.

   My father raises black angus, and when he slaughters a steer, he has the meat custom aged. Trust me, it’s better than anything you can find at the store!

   Despite the joke, though, if Brutus is at a restaurant that requires a dinner jacket and bow tie on its male customers and a bow tie on its waiters, I can guarantee the meat has been aged, and probably dry aged at that.

   They must live in Missouri. “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute” is an old saying here in the Ozarks.

   Pudding to the Brits is not what we think of as pudding. To them, the word “pudding” is used as an umbrella term for dessert, though it technically refers to a steamed dish. It could also be baked or boiled, and they can be sweet, such as plum pudding or bread pudding, or savory, such as black pudding or haggis.

   Also, no actual plums. Rather, in the pre-Victorian era, plum was the word for raisin

   It’s a traditional Christmas dish and is also known as Christmas pudding. For the record, it is absolutely delicious.

   We had a similar headline here in Missouri when the guy who played Santa at Bass Pro died. He had also legally changed his name to Santa Claus. Fortunately, it was in January!

   I just really hate the commercialization of Christmas. I mean, for crying out loud, a lot of places had their Christmas stuff on display before Halloween, this year!

   The only thing I’ve purchased related to Christmas this year was a raffle ticket where the money went to tuition assistance and yarn to MAKE scarves for my nieces and nephews. Hmm…. wonder if her Maj would enjoy a camo scarf for going to war….

   I love this. Even when I’m sick and feel horrid, I can count on Victoria for a good laugh. :)

    I love it when Pab takes the week off. If my memory serves me correctly, this is only going to get funnier. :)
