Why does helping Ukraine fight Putin matter? History teaches that defending each other truly matters.

Hitler invaded Poland (attacked in September 1939), and no one really responded. Then Hitler attacked Denmark (April 1940), then Norway (April 1940), Belgium (May 1940), the Netherlands (May 1940), Luxembourg (May 1940), France (May 1940), Yugoslavia (April 1941), and Greece (April 1941).

Do you really think that a megalomaniac like Putin will stop if he defeats Ukraine? Why do you think that he wants to weaken NATO? When Biden encouraged Europe’s outraged response to the invasion of Ukraine, it was because he knows that not supporting and losing Ukraine will open the door for more invasions of Europe’s countries. So why should we care what happens to Europe? The world is a smaller place. All of our economies all of our industries all of our food productions are intertwined worldwide in a world that is much smaller than it was in 1940. Do you think that Putin is playing children’s games? He has missiles that can reach us here. We need Europe as much as Europe needs us.

Why is it so strange that the House is listening to the people? Polls show securing our border is the top concern. Fix that and the rest will follow.

But no. Dems can’t do that. Their corporate masters want more cheap labor. Their donors want full hotels and NGOs gushing with money. And they want more voters without regard to legality.

It really ought to be Putin’s voice. Never in all of US history has a foreign adversary called the shots so clearly in one of our major parties.

Tell me again — calmly, without thoughtless yelling — how a deeply divided, distrusting, disrespectful, undereducated, willfully ignorant, [vengeful, Old Testament] quasi-theocratic political system will make the US great by eliminating democracy and equal opportunity for all.

Tell me again how the lack of affordable housing/medical care/education, clean air/water, and infrastructure maintenance [especially our overburdened electrical grid] will make the US great for everyone who lives/works here.

Johnson does seem a bit off from what Ive seen of previous statements…but I admire him for standing against yet more aid to Ukraine…this is the position of most Americans…who arent really represented in Congress anymore…but the war-machine sure is, the MIC.

On the radio this morning, with NPR covering the standoff at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, TX, (named for a confederate cavalry officer famous for his unwillingness to accept the Confederacy’s defeat in the Civil War), a Trump supporter, named in the report, made the following observation in support of Gov. Abbott’s occupation of the park by the Texas National Guard, which I will substantially, if not exactly, quote:

“It’s 1861 right now, if you’re on the side of Gov. Abbott and 25 states and Alaska and Russia, we’re all Confederates.”

The Republican Party has studied long and hard the lessons of Lenin, Stalin and Hitler. Now they are putting them to the test.

Before the Bolsheviks killed the Czar and his family the Russians had a legislature, with a prime minister as the head of the government and the Czar as the head of the nation. They were trying to model themselves after the British.

No way did Lenin want this to work. He had a policy called, “The worse things are, the better they are” where he worked constantly to undermine the success of the government, so that it would collapse and the Communists could take over.

The Republicans are trying to do the same thing. They are NOT about running the government. They are about absorbing power.

‘Neck-snapping’: Speaker Johnson’s latest ‘flip-flop’ could kick shutdown down the road

“Johnson has offered to shift existing government funding deadlines from March 1 and March 8 to March 8 and March 22,” Punchbowl News reports, calling it “Johnson’s Latest Shift.” Johnson had chosen the March 1 and March 8 dates and the concept of a “laddered” government shutdown, which other stakeholders opposed but accepted.

“After saying late last year he was done with any more short-term stop-gaps to avoid a shutdown, Mike Johnson had to do one in January and may have to do one again. Facing a partial shutdown Friday, he’s bowing to reality and floating another CR,” notes CNN’s Manu Raju. “Negotiators say they’re making progress to complete at least some of the annual funding bills (that they were supposed to get done by last October.)”

Trump Putin loving House republicans are keeping our border open and are holding the USA budget hostage.

‘Comedy of errors’: Jamie Raskin sticks a fork in GOP impeachment probe

With Hunter Biden due to testify on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) delivered some pre-testimony spin to reporters where he torched the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden as a complete failure.

Interesting Essay in the NYTimes. Here is something that should interest you:

“With unemployment at 3.7 percent, America has too few workers, not too many. And with the fertility rate low and baby boomers retiring, that worker shortage will only grow. To simply maintain our population growth rate of the past two decades, we would need to elevate our intake of legal immigrants to about four million a year, up from roughly one million at present.”

We should be welcoming immigrants at the border, getting them settled, and putting them to work. If they stay and contribute, let them apply for citizenship in 7 years. In the meantime, they will be spending money and paying taxes, win/win! The xenophobia demonstrated by the right-wing will devastate the US economy.

Fools and their freedom are soon parted. And that applies to GOP ignorant voters. Hate is a costly school mistress. Don’t claim evangelical and hate. Bible says love and hate cannot mix. God told Cain: Sin is crouching at your door, eager to control you. But you must subdue and be master it – Genesis 4:7. Trump is just sin – evil. Don’t be taken in.
