My father stands with the fridge door open. Sometimes he walks away from it and leaves it open. It has a sensor that starts to ping when the temperature goes up. He can’t hear it because of his tinnitus.

I was pretty good at guessing where technology would lead us, but here are four words I never would have predicted I’d say: “Furniture needs louder beepers.”

I know of one man who got so angry over his kids raiding the refrigerator and leaving the door open, he installed a hasp and lock on it; then wondered why Child Protective Services showed up asking questions.

But if you take stuff out of the fridge, you have to put it back in; even the milk carton with 2 TBSP (plus backwash) left and the pickle jar with just the brine but no cucumbers.

I had to put a lock on the freezer because of husband with dementia. He could cook and eat a whole frozen pizza and not remember.

Could also have it, once opened, to deliver constant admonitions about homework and room cleaning that could only be disabled by paying for the pro version.

Yay mom!

We need something to help save money in electricity and spoiled food, like a window or something.

It’s about time she took matters in to her own hands.

Our’s has an alarm, that goes off after being open for 2 minutes or being 2°C warmer than set. That second alarm is also helpful when something’s broken or having put something hot into the fridge.

I’m still looking for a gadget that tells me a container filled with hot content has reached ambient temperature and may now go into the fridge without wasting energy.
