Were I a doctor and a patient came in strapped, they would be told to hit the road.

^^Yes, respect for life apparently means tolerating your fellow citizens being regularly gunned down by madmen.

Not to worry, doc. The only symptom is near daily mass shootings, including little kids.

Nothing that gun violence advocates are worried about in the slightest.

The 2 people in that exam room are safer with a concealed carry. It takes a good guy with a gun to take down a bad guy with a gun. And why didn’t all the people involved with the shooter in Maine follow the yellow flag warnings. The people involved that ignored his obvious mental state are more to blame than law abiding gun owners.

As far back as January, Card’s mental health had already started to decline, his family said. By May it was getting even worse, and they were concerned for his well-being, and that he had access to firearms.

Despite some follow-up between local police and the Army Reserves regarding Card’s apparent paranoia, verbalized threats to shoot people and recurrent aggressive behavior in recent months, the documents do not indicate that Card was ever taken into protective custody or judged mentally incompetent by a medical professional which is required to trigger Maine’s yellow flag law.

On Oct. 25, Card’s repeated warning signs would prove fatal, when he would act on his threats in back-to-back massacres that claimed the lives of 18 and injured 13 more.

Do a mental examination on him: take that rubber hammer that’s used to tap his knee and gently tap him on his head. If his reaction is to grab his gun and start firing, he needs to be confined to an institution immediately. Mental health facility or jail, whichever gets him off the street more quickly.

In North Carolina, our local GOP candidate for governor has already started his fear campaign. His main issue is crime and he’s showing us how dangerous our streets are by showing videos of people in the streets shooting guns. He says he’s going to “put them behind bars or in the ground.” No mention of getting guns off the street.

The per capita violent crime rate has decreased in the state over the past decade by more than 20%, so typical Republican, he’s solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

He also shows videos of the “smash and dash” going on in California. Last time I checked, San Francisco was not part of North Carolina. Maybe he should run there.

It’s not a gun problem; it’s a mental health problem. Therefore, The United States is the most mentally-ill country on the planet. The Republicans control the House of Representatives that is responsible for originating bills dealing with finance. So let’s see if they “put their money where their mouth is” and appropriate funding for affordable mental health care.

Also we are told that “gun laws” don’t work. That’s is apparently true but begs the question, “Why do they work in every other civilized country except the United States?”

    Rational minds want to know.

Of course, “assault weapons” and concealed guns can be banned, as well as requiring background check and banning certain individuals from owning guns; no constitutional “rights” are absolute and all have been interpreted in different ways by the ever-changing courts. The Supreme Court almost always does what it wants to do, and then finds support for their position from the constitution – rather than the other way around. The bigger question is does a ban or more checking solve or help solve the societal problem of mass shootings.

Here are eight stubborn facts to keep in mind about gun violence in America:

Violent crime is down and has been on the decline for decades. The principal public safety concerns with respect to guns are suicides and illegally owned handguns, not mass shootings.A small number of factors significantly increase the likelihood that a person will be a victim of a gun-related homicide.Gun-related murders are carried out by a predictable pool of people.Higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime. There is no clear relationship between strict gun control legislation and homicide or violent crime rates.Legally owned firearms are used for lawful purposes much more often than they are used to commit crimes or suicide.Concealed carry permit holders are not the problem, but they may be part of the solution.(Source: Heritage dot org)

You might keep in mind that the Mefalsim kibbutz suffered zero deaths on 10/7, because armed volunteers defended the residents. At one point, 3 volunteers held off 15-16 terrorists. The residents of many other kibbutzim saw terrible loss of life. BTW, when CNN, bastion of Leftist “news”, reports on the horrific realities of the Hamas terrorist attack (see: tinyurl dot com/ 2u482pcj), you’d think it would give those justifying their brutality and barbarism pause.
