There’s a “how to hack your endocrine system” thing going around Facebrick recently. Best comment: “Notice that all these things you can do have NOTHING to do with watching a small screen or pushing little keys.”

“Leave your computer off” and “go back to work” are pretty contradictory statements for many these days.

I leave my computer on overnight, in case the tech overlords decide it needs updating. I tried using its Sleep function, but the slightest vibration would cause the computer to wake up, and the brightness of the monitor would wake me up, too. So now I just turn off the monitor and let the computer do its own thing.

Reminds me of the joke: Guy calls tech support because his new computer stopped working. Support tells him to ensure that it’s plugged in. Guy states it’s too dark to see the plug. S: turn on the light. G: can’t, the power is out. S: Well, this is what you need to do, pack up the computer and return it to the store. G: is it that serious? What do I tell them? S: tell them that you’re too stupid to own a computer.

The “tech support” guy’s advice can apply to those who spend their lives on social media…

I have come to believe that computers are the work of the Devil. What, haven’t you ever seen someone at a computer keyboard taking the Lord’s name in vain? All the time.

Day trading is no joke. I had a friend who was an investments manager & lost a bunch of his clients’ money in day trading. Many of them were his friends, & he killed himself when he couldn’t face them with the bad news. 8-(

There is a book called “Bitcoin for Dummies,” a title that sums up both the crypto concept and crypto buyers.

In the last two Darknet Diaries episodes I listened to, the criminals talked about how they liked crypto currencies because they could steal it and there was no form of claw back like there is with other money transfer systems.

Over the last couple of years several of my friends got bit by the bitcoin craze. I remember just a year ago when they thought they had hundreds of thousands and in one case millions of dollars in bitcoin earnings . I kept telling them to convert if back to real money and they didn’t, saying they would be rich enough to retire and be millionaires soon. As of today NONE of them have any bitcoin earnings any more. It all crashed and some when they tried to pull their money out found they couldn’t withdraw the money for all sorts of phony reasons. Some of these guys had been decent day traders for years, yet they weren’t smart enough to realize bitcoin was just a scam pyramid scheme. To bad

That reminds me of that joke where the person wastes a lot of time with tech support (TS) for support to find out they didn’t have their computer plugged in. When TS tells the he hopes that they still have the computer box, they ask him if it’s that serious and TS says “yes, you are too stupid to have a computer”.
