Russell Myers has been drawing Broomie for 53 years.

If Wikipedia is to be believed, it’s been more like 53 years.

Myers is 84. I think we need to steel ourselves for the day when there will be no new Broom-Hildas.

Russell, thanks for decades of fun and funny trees.

Most cartoonists love doing their strips full time—that is, until they run out of fresh ideas and the strips become boringly predictable.

True comedy is when you can make fun of yourself! Just know we all love what you do Russel! I only just discovered Broomie a couple years ago and been a fan since! :D

It’s been 50 years? This calls for a celebration and congratulations! ☺️❤️

I started reading Broom Hilda in the 70’s. Dad always started the day reading the comics in the old Detroit Free Press and Broom Hilda has been a favorite ever since.

That cactus looks very prickly.

Ignore that last panel. To be frank, Russell Meyer isn’t a whiner.

I’ve loved this strip for years. It was one of the ones I copied often as practice as an amateur cartoonist.

The strip is obviously about Russell Myers, as Broom-Hilda made its debut April 19, 1970, 53 years ago.

I started reading Broom Hilda when I was 15, 52 years ago. I remember when it came to the San Jose Mercury News. This comic is still in my top 10.

On the other hand Broomie, it’s nice to have a steady job.

She must not have a very sensitive buttock. Possibly has hardened over the centuries…….
